  • Patent number: 8539474
Abstract: A method of organizing interim software fixes is disclosed. The method includes communicating with a user to understand a first software operation problem and determining if a first interim software fix to remedy the first software operation problem exists within an archive comprising a plurality of interim software fixes. In response to determining the first interim software fix exists, making available to the user an electronic package for installing the first interim software fix to remedy the first software operation problem. In response to determining the first interim software fix does not exist, causing to be developed the first interim software fix to remedy the first software operation problem. The method further includes creating an electronic package for the first interim software fix, making available to the user the electronic package for the first interim software fix and storing information associated with the first software operating problem in the archive.

  • Patent number: 8537774
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to cellular wireless networks and are particularly suited to networks including different types of base stations. So-called femtocell base stations are typically deployed within a subscriber's premises and operate at low transmit power, providing a very limited area of wireless coverage. A femtocell is typically deployed within the area of wireless coverage of a conventional macrocell type of base station, and if handover from a macrocell is performed on the basis of the best signal to noise plus interference ratio, a connection is likely to be transferred to another macrocell rather than to a femtocell. However, in view of the low density of user equipments capable of transceiving with a femtocell, the femtocell could potentially provide a greater data rate to the user equipment terminal than is possible with a macrocell.

  • Patent number: 8538241
Abstract: A multimedia signal processing system utilizes an easily manipulated, low-cost storage and display system that allows the user to view a television program and instantly review previous scenes within the program. The invention also allows the user to store selected programs while simultaneously watching or reviewing another. A versatile system architecture enables providing the invention in multiple configurations, each adapted to receive input signals from a different source. At the highest level, the system includes an input section and an output section. Across all configurations, the output section remains substantially the same, while the input section varies according to the signal type and the source. Thus, several configurations are provided, each one requiring only minor system board modifications. The system architecture thus simplifies the design and manufacturing challenge presented by producing units to serve different markets, such as digital satellite, digital cable and analog cable.

  • Patent number: 8537784
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for increasing the rescan timer for a wireless communication device. In a particular embodiment, a method comprises determining locations of the wireless communication device and detecting performance conditions when the wireless communication device transitions between communicating with a home wireless network and a visited wireless network. The method further comprises correlating the performance conditions to the corresponding locations of the wireless communication device and processing the correlated performance conditions and corresponding locations to determine a geographic area having performance issues when transitioning between communicating with the home wireless network and the visited wireless network. If the wireless communication device communicates with the visited wireless network when in the geographic area, then the method provides increasing the home wireless network rescan timer.
