  • Patent number: 12270001
Abstract: A process for preparing an olefin stream for oligomerization comprises fractionating an olefin stream to provide a light gas stream and an olefin rich stream. Oxygenates are absorbed from the olefin rich stream into a water wash stream to provide an oxygenate rich water wash stream and a washed olefin stream. The washed olefin stream can then be oligomerized.

  • Publication number: 20250066273
Abstract: A process for separating an olefin stream from a methane stream is disclosed. The process comprises providing an olefin stream comprising C2 and/or C3 olefins. The olefin stream is cooled in a heat exchanger with a mixed refrigerant stream to provide a cooled olefin stream. The cooled olefin stream is passed to a demethanizer column operating at an overhead pressure of about 344 kPa gauge (50 psig) to about 2069 kPa gauge (300 psig). The cooled olefin stream is fractionated in the demethanizer column to provide a demethanizer column overhead vapor stream and a demethanizer column bottoms liquid stream. The process provides an improved recovery/yield of olefins and also optimizes the cooling and/or heating of other process streams.

  • Publication number: 20240383824
Abstract: An integrated process for producing light olefins by integrating methanol purification with olefin production from methanol. The methanol fed to the MTO process may be crude methanol or purified methanol with the heavy oxygenates removed and treated with heavy oxygenates in the MTO effluent. By eliminating or reducing the need for purification of methanol by the methanol supplier, the cost will be reduced for methanol conversion to olefins or fuels.

  • Publication number: 20240384178
Abstract: An integrated process for producing light olefins is disclosed. The integrated process comprises passing a syngas stream and a hydrogen stream to a methanol synthesis section to provide a reactor effluent comprising methanol. The reactor effluent is separated into a vapor stream and a liquid stream comprising methanol. The liquid stream comprising methanol is passed to a methanol purification section comprising at least two distillation columns, a first distillation column and a second distillation column to provide a methanol product stream. At least a portion of the methanol product stream is passed to an oxygenate conversion unit to provide an effluent comprising olefins. The reboiling heat to said the first distillation column and the second distillation column is provided from the separation section of the oxygenate conversion unit.

  • Publication number: 20240246889
Abstract: A process for preparing an olefin stream for oligomerization comprises fractionating an olefin stream to provide an ethylene stream and a olefin rich stream. Acetylenes in the ethylene stream are converted to ethylene in the presence of hydrogen to provide a concentrated ethylene stream that can be oligomerized.

  • Publication number: 20240246886
Abstract: A process for preparing an olefin stream for oligomerization comprises fractionating an olefin stream to provide a light gas stream and a olefin rich stream. Oxygenates are absorbed from the olefin rich stream into a water wash stream to provide an oxygenate rich water wash stream and a washed olefin stream. Oxygenates are then adsorbed from the washed olefin rich stream, so the deoxygenated stream can then be oligomerized.

  • Publication number: 20240246890
Abstract: A process for preparing an olefin stream for oligomerization comprises fractionating an olefin stream to provide a light gas stream and a olefin rich stream. The olefin rich stream is selectively hydrogenated to convert diolefins to mono-olefins and provide a mono-olefin stream and oligomerizing the mono-olefin stream over an oligomerization catalyst to provide an oligomerized stream.

  • Publication number: 20240247197
Abstract: A process is provided for preparing a hydrocarbon stream for oligomerization. The process strips dimethyl ether from an olefin stream using a stripping column. Lighter olefins such as C3? olefins are also removed. The C4+ olefins can then be sent for further processing including selective hydrogenation followed by oligomerization.
