    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a computer implemented method for searching a medical coding database. The method may include receiving a particular look-up term associated with a particular medical classification code. The particular look-up term may contain one or more words. The method may include creating a set of indices derived from the particular look-up term. Each index in the set of indices may include a string containing at least three contiguous characters from the particular look-up term. The first character of the string may be the first character of one of the one or more words of the particular look-up term. The method may include associating each index in the set of indices to the particular medical classification code. The method may include storing the set of indices and the associated particular medical classification code into an indexing table of the medical coding database.
