  • Publication number: 20060280415
Abstract: This disclosure presents a version of a coherent laser radar system that is immune to environmental effects on Mach-Zehnder-configured interferometers and reference length standards comprising such systems. The present disclosure also describes methods and materials which alleviate interferometer drift due to vapor absorption using a polyimide coated polarization maintaining fiber to reduce the change in the length of a reference arm.

  • Publication number: 20060161690
Abstract: A remote control device tries each of a number of command sets and detects a user's response to each attempt to identify the correct command set. Each attempt includes sending a signal to a controlled device that, if properly received and understood by the controlled device, would cause the controlled device to display a message to the user instruction the user to perform a predetermined user input gesture on the remote control device. The remote control device recognizes the predetermined user input gesture, e.g., pushing of a button, as acknowledgment from the controlled device that the most recently sent command or commands were successfully received and understood by the controlled device.

  • Publication number: 20050091505
Abstract: A method of managing dynamic services that are provided over a network, the method involving: storing rules for controlling admission to the network; keeping track of state of the network; receiving a request for establishing a session over the network; and using both the stored rules and the state of the network to determine whether to grant the request for establishing the session.

  • Patent number: 6690988
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of converting a bitmap to an object-based embroidery pattern by generating a skeleton from the bitmap and traversing paths and nodes identified in the skeleton, the embroidery pattern objects being generated during the traversal. The outline of the bitmap is used to define parts of the boundaries of the generated objects, which are laid down using a linear stitch type on the first traversal of a skeleton path and a fill stitch type on the second traversal of the skeleton path.

  • Patent number: 6564521
Abstract: Rigid structural members, profiles, joints, and forms added to structural sandwich panels to provide higher strength, integral joining joint, and single facing sheet manufacturing. Facing sheets (20) and (22), rigid structural members (24) and (26), latch side and pin side cam-locks (34) and (32), fabricated wire truss assembly (48), and rigid structural headers (28) and (30) and an integrated top plate (29) are positioned into containment form assembly (58) in the proper position. Facing sheets (20) and (22) are placed in position in the containment form assembly (58) forming a structural sandwich panel assembly. A foam resin core material (40) is injected into the structural sandwich panel assembly and allowed to cure. The resultant structural sandwich panel includes rigid structural members (24) and (26) and elongated recesses (36) and (38) which also form a joint for joining abutting structural sandwich panels together and cam-locks (32) and (34) used to secure adjoining panels together.

  • Patent number: 6510360
Abstract: A computer is operated to produce an object-based design description file for an embroidery pattern from a vector-based stitch file describing the pattern as a sequence of stitches. The stitch file is analyzed to identify the stitch points qualifying as embroidery edge points at which the stitch direction substantially reverses. A list of these edge points is produced and the stitch file is further analyzed to identify groups of successive edge points in the list wherein the edge points of each group define an embroidery region of area filling type stitches. An object describing the respective embroidery region is then generated from the co-ordinate positions of edge points in a group.

  • Publication number: 20030009437
Abstract: A computer program and method are disclosed for matching a potential positionee and potential positionor. The potential positionee is provided with a positionee information entry interface for entering positionee information comprising the potential positionee's actual qualifications. The positionee information is stored in a database. Matching is accomplished by providing the potential positionor with a positionor information entry interface for electronically entering positionor information comprising at least one target qualification for a position, the positionor information being stored in the database. Matching is based on determining whether the positionee information correlates with the positionor information. A correlated information list is created. The correlated information is presented for review. Code sections of the computer program preferably accomplish these and other tasks.

  • Patent number: 6418540
Abstract: A computer system comprises an active processor and one or more spare processors. A dummy thread is created on the active processor while the active processor is running a current thread, causing the current thread to become dormant. The operating system of the active processor saves a set of internal state information for the current thread into a first memory coupled to the active processor. Each write to the first memory is duplicated in an equivalent spare memory coupled to each of the one or more spare processors. The dummy thread then activates the spare processor and de-activates the active processor.

  • Patent number: 6148247
Abstract: A computer is operated to generate stitch data relating to an embroidery design. In the method of the invention, parameters of elements of the design are entered in the memory of the computer, said parameters being standard parameters for embroidering the design on a first type of material. First stitch data is then created in the memory of the computer for embroidering the design on the first type of material. Modified stitch data is then created in the memory of the computer for embroidering the design on a second type of material. The first stitch data or the modified stitch data, depending upon whether the design is to be embroidered onto the first type of material or onto the second type of material, is then written onto a storage medium.
