Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for rapidly evaluating light transmission through coatings including paints, primers, thin films, surfacing films, laminates and the like are disclosed. The system includes a light source for transmitting light through a coating sample. A sample holder holds the coating sample in a position to receive the incident light. A spectrometer measures an amount of the transmitted light that passes through the coating sample. Optionally, one or more optical filters may be used to condition any transmitted light that passes through the coating sample to reduce the intensity of the light outside of wavelengths of interest. An opaque cover encloses the spectrometer, the one or more optional optical filters, and at least part of the sample holder to prevent light other than the transmitted light from the light source from entering the spectrometer such that any transmitted light passing through the coating sample can be accurately evaluated.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system for delivering information comprising: a sender device with an email client for composing and sending an original email message to a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) listener server with encryption enabled; a message processor that extracts the message body payload from the email message, stores it in a database, and creates a new email message with a message body containing a reference to the message body of the original email message; a file repository for storage of attachments to the email message; and an SMTP sender that sends the new email message to a recipient mail server. The ring may be surrounded by an outer ring or member of doped silicon and the region inside the ring may comprise an oppositely doped member, making the ring itself the intrinsic region of a positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diode. When a voltage is applied between the outer and inner members the refractive index of the waveguide is changed. A photodiode at a throughput end of the first waveguide is connected to a feedback loop that controls the voltage to the members.
