  • Patent number: 10885515
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for changing a financial account after initiating a payment using a proxy object, such as a proxy card, are disclosed. The proxy card is associated with multiple financial accounts, such as accounts associated with credit cards, debit cards, and pre-paid gift cards. A consumer presents the proxy card to a merchant to make a payment, and the merchant swipes the proxy card and processes the payment by sending transaction information to a financial system. A computer system associated with the financial system selects a payment account associated with the proxy card to use for the payment, and an authorization for the transaction is obtained. Later, the consumer is given a limited time within which he may change the financial account used for the payment, such as by using his mobile device to select a different account associated with the proxy card to use to obtain funds for the payment.

  • Patent number: 10614450
Abstract: A technique for a proxy card to emulate each of a plurality of payment cards according to emulation rules associated with the payment card. The proxy card initially selects one of the plurality of payment cards for emulation based on one or more selection rules or a user instruction. Next, the proxy card emulates the selected payment card according to one or more emulation rule associated with the selected payment card, each relating to how emulation is performed with respect to time, location, business, or other factors.

  • Patent number: 10430797
Abstract: Disclosed herein are techniques for providing a digital receipt to a consumer upon tender of payment to a merchant through the use of a proxy payment card in a financial transaction. The proxy payment card can be associated with multiple financial accounts (e.g., accounts associated with credit cards, debit cards, or gift cards). The digital receipt is automatically received at a personal computing device of the consumer in response to the financial transaction being charged to a financial account associated with the proxy payment card. The digital receipt includes information indicative of the financial transaction. The digital receipt can also include one or more interactive components that allow the consumer to interact with the transaction (and/or merchant) subsequent to transmission of the receipt, such as adding a tip, providing feedback, redeeming a promotion reward, tracking loyalty reward points, or reviewing transaction records of past and present transactions.

  • Patent number: 9830049
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer program product are described that provide for the display of a visual transition between screens representing different interactive content to indicate to a user that the user is “leaving” (e.g., transitioning away) from one screen and is “entering” (e.g., transitioning to) another screen. In particular, a first graphical effect may be applied to a first screen and a second, different graphical effect may be applied to the second screen. The first graphical effect may be indicative of a transition from display of the first screen to non-display of the first screen, while the second graphical effect may be indicative of a transition from non-display of the second screen to display of the second screen. The combination of the first and second graphical effects may, thus, create for the user a visual transition from the first screen to the second screen.

  • Patent number: 9619792
Abstract: A method and apparatus for associating an account with a proxy card based on a photo are disclosed. The proxy card can be associated with account data from multiple other cards, such as account data from a driver's license and from various payment cards, such as a credit card, a debit card, and a pre-paid gift card. In some embodiments, a card-holder can associate an additional card with the proxy card by taking a photo of the face of the additional card using a mobile device. The mobile device analyzes the photo to obtain text representing account information that appears in the photo of the additional card. The mobile device associates the additional card with the proxy card by causing updating of stored association information, that represents an association between the card and the account data of the multiple cards, with the account information.
