Patent number: 12608239Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling load on a server hosting block storage volumes by dynamically controlling latency for input/output (I/O) operations to the block storage volumes. The system can selectively inject synthetic latency into the I/O operations according to how the server is loaded, thus enabling control of server load. For example, when the server is overloaded, additional synthetic latency can be injected into I/O operations to counteract overloading. This synthetic latency can then be removed when the server is no longer overloaded. Modifications of synthetic latency can be targeted to individual clients, individual types of I/O operations, or both, facilitating targeted performance shaping for servers hosting block storage volumes.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2023Date of Patent: April 21, 2026Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Sriram Venugopal, Andrew Boyer, Mark Robinson, Aravinda Venkatramana, Harshi Priya Yarragonda, Abhimanyu Agarwal, Scott Kirvan

Publication number: 20250265135Abstract: A block-based storage system hosts logical volumes that are implemented via multiple replicas of volume data stored on multiple resource hosts in different failure domains. Also, the block-based storage service allows multiple client computing devices to attach to a same given logical volume at the same time. In order to prevent unnecessary failovers, a primary node storing a primary replica is configured with a health check application programmatic interface (API) and a secondary node storing a secondary replica determines whether or not to initiate a failover based on the health of the primary replica.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2025Publication date: August 21, 2025Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Fan Ping, Andrew Boyer, Oleksandr Chychykalo, James Pinkerton, Danny Wei, Norbert Paul Kusters, Divya Ashok Kumar Jain, Jianhua Fan, Thomas Tarak Mathew Veppumthara, Sebastiano Peluso

Publication number: 20250257802Abstract: An automated bulk tank pressure exhaust valve automatically exhaust air pressure from a bulk tank of a bulk tank trailer in response to a sensor operatively communicating with the exhaust valve sensing an absence of air pressure or air flow in a tank pipe communicating with the bulk tank. The sensor is also operatively communicated with in alarm that is activated in response to the sensor sensing air pressure or air flow in the tank pipe or a truck coupled to the bulk tank trailer.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2025Publication date: August 14, 2025Inventors: David E. Patent number: 12337269Abstract: A dust filtering and collection system for filtering dust and other debris particles from an incoming dust laden air stream, such air stream generally being used for conveying granular material into or from a bulk tank trailer, a railroad car, or other conveying vehicle, the filtering system designed to be functioned by vacuum air pressure, operatively generated by a blower, to draw in the soiled air into the filter system, to cleanse such air for further use in the conveying of the granular material. The air flow may be reversed, to provide for a dislodging of any dust particles from the filtering system, and to cleanse the filter for further efficient usage of the system in conveying granular material into or out of the tank trailer, or other vehicle during usage. The filter system includes a pod of filter tubes encapsulated by a polymer header that mounts to a transverse plate that secures to the approximate upper end of the filter canister of the filtration system.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2022Date of Patent: June 24, 2025Assignee: Bulk Tank, Inc.Inventors: David E. Publication number: 20250199727Abstract: A storage object and an associated permissions record is stored at a storage server. The permissions record indicates that some storage consumers are not permitted to perform a type of I/O operation on the storage object. In response to detecting that an event of a deletion triggering type with respect to the records, a modified version of the permissions record is stored at the server, indicating that the storage consumers remain prohibited from performing the I/O operations. In response to receiving a command to perform a particular I/O at the server after the modified version has been stored, the modified version is used to process the command.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 3, 2025Publication date: June 19, 2025Applicant: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Barak Pinhas, Swapnil Vinay Dinkar, Andrew Boyer, Yonatan Divinsky, Alex Friedman

Publication number: 20250025820Abstract: A filtration system for a dry bulk tank trailer includes a filter canister containing a filter media in the interior volume of the filter canister. The filter media divides the interior volume of the filter canister into a dusty air side and a clean air side of the interior volume on opposite sides of the filter media. A dusty air line operatively communicates the dusty air side of the interior volume with the dry bulk tank. A fitting operatively communicates with the clean air side of the interior volume. The fitting is operable to selectively communicate a vacuum pressure and a positive pressure to the clean air side of the interior volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2022Publication date: January 23, 2025Inventors: David E. Patent number: 12115473Abstract: A pressure and heat molded polymer tube, formed of miniscule polyethylene beads, each in the vicinity of 115 um powder in diameter, which when compression molded forms pores that are of uniform diameter throughout their length within the range of 5 um-10 um, the tube having an upper flange, that mates within a correspondently shaped grommet, which when applied to the transverse plate of an air filtration housing, functions to cleanse highly efficiently the dust particles and debris from the air being filtered, when passing through the filtration system, so that such purified air can be discharged safely.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2022Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Assignee: Bulk Tank, Inc.Inventors: David E Sisk, Peter Kemp, Roger Breakfield, Andrew Boyer, Travis Kinneman, Todd Watkins, Dylan Whitter

Patent number: 11995004Abstract: Data centers often run long lived services such as web servers that are intended to run for hours, days, or even longer before being torn down and replaced with another instance of the long-lived service. Currently, many applications are being implemented with microservice architectures that run short lived services that start up, implement an operation, and are then torn down. An aspect of starting up a service is creating administrative data structures such as InfiniBand queue pairs. A packet processing pipeline having a DMA output stage can be configured to create the administrative data structures, thereby increasing the rate at which the administrative data structures are created. As a result, services running in data centers can be started up more rapidly and efficiently.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2020Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: PENSANDO SYSTEMS INC.Inventors: Harinadh Nagulapalli, Balakrishnan Raman, Murty Subba Rama Chandra Kotha, Nitish Bhat, Allen Hubbe, Andrew Boyer
