Abstract: A simple and inexpensive sump protection system comprises a retainer that is placed on a building floor over a sump and a hose that leads from the retainer. The protector is formed as a short tube with an annular flange extending from one end thereof. A seal on the underside of the flange contacts the floor to confine water rising in the sump above the floor level. A spout is formed in the tube. Water rising in the retainer is led harmlessly to a drain by means of a hose clamped over the spout. If desired, suitable weights at hand can be placed on the tube to enhance sealing between the retainer and the floor.
