Patent number: 10348516Abstract: Proposed are concepts for managing communication between off-premise and on-premise servers. A flow execution request from an application of an off-premise server or an on-premise server is received and a requested flow is determined based on the received flow execution request. Stored endpoint data associated with the requested flow can then be identified. The flow execution request is then communicated to an on-premise server or off-premise server based on the identified endpoint data.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2016Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Andrew Coleman, Matthew E. Golby-Kirk, John A. Reeve

Publication number: 20160289121Abstract: A high strength concrete composition comprising cement, expanded perlite, aggregate, water in an amount corresponding to a water to cement ratio of about 0.25 to 0.35, and one or more chemical admixtures in an amount sufficient for workability. The composition exhibits typical compressive strengths in the range of about 10000 to about 14000 psi after 28 days. In addition, the composition exhibits extremely high heat resistance and low permeability. The composition is particularly suitable in applications such as runways and landing pads, anti-ballistic panels, and blast resistant walls, barriers, panels, and checkpoints. The enhanced strength allows lesser quantities of concrete to be used in the construction of highway, bridges, buildings, dams, and similar structures.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2015Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventor: John Andrew Coleman

Patent number: 9131949Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for classifying a shockwave is described, particularly for use in an Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (SWL) system. The method for classifying a shockwave generated and directed towards a stone in an extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy treatment comprises receiving an acoustic signal at a passive unfocused acoustic sensor, determining whether at least one characteristic of the received acoustic emissions exceeds a respective pre-determined threshold value, and classifying the shockwave as effective or ineffective in dependence upon said determination. A method for predicting the outcome of an SWL treatment is also described.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2009Date of Patent: September 15, 2015Assignees: GUYS AND ST. Publication number: 20140316936Abstract: A method of assigning tax codes for a transactional document such as a list of items in a shopping cart. This method is a configurable solution without making changes to the application code. A series of questions are directed to an end user. Depending on the tax requirements of a country, the questions are tailored in a language understandable to the user. From these questions, possible answers are collected, and translated to a set of indicators. These indicators are mapped to tax codes that can be assigned to a transactional document listed in a shopping cart.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2013Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: K. Patent number: 8568527Abstract: A durable concrete composition includes a cementitious material comprising cement and ground expanded perlite, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, and sufficient water for adequate workability. The resulting concrete displays a number of superior properties to conventional concrete, including extremely high thermal resistance coupled with high strength, low chloride ion permeability, and good early strength. The ground expanded perlite is a readily available material and the finished concrete is extremely cost effective for applications where a high strength structural concrete must withstand high temperatures. The mixture can be handled and placed by conventional methods and is compatible with existing conventional concrete additives.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2012Date of Patent: October 29, 2013Inventors: Terry L. Anderson, John Andrew Coleman, Neal S. Berke

Patent number: 8510440Abstract: A method and system for assisting a user having a role and a qualification. In accordance with this method, a software tool is provided that is adapted to limit a user to a functional limitation predefined by a first role and a data access limitation predefined by a qualification. The method comprises the steps of receiving a request for assistance from said user, accessing said software tool with a customer care role having a view functionality only limitation, and simulating said first role and said qualification while operating in said customer care role, to assist said user. In the preferred embodiment, the simulation functionalities that the customer care role has, enable that customer care role to simulate update and create functionalities. Also, preferably, the customer care role may use the user's identification to obtain access to the software tool.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2002Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Andrew Coleman, Janet E. Publication number: 20090193095Abstract: In a message grouping application, the broker/ESB architecture allows the messages mid-flow to pause and collecting them into groups according to a correlation string that is calculated from the content of the messages. Furthermore, minimum/maximum quantity and timeout constraints are applied to the group. Once a collection, as a group of related messages, is deemed complete, they are combined into one message and routed or transformed as directed in their combined content. This scheme allows message processing to be batched according to the combined business meaning of multiple inputs.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2008Publication date: July 30, 2009Inventor: Andrew Coleman
