Patent number: 10775020Abstract: A luminaire (61) is disclosed with a close coupled ballast (62) having a support arm (66) from which is suspended or hung a reflector, and preferably a variable focus reflector (41), having either a single ended lamp (3) or double ended lamp (23). The luminaire (61) is supported from a greenhouse rafter (9) by filaments (10, 11) which are connected one to the ballast (62) and the other to the free end of the support arm (66). In one embodiment the arm (66) is connected to a rigid side plate (64) which is mounted on the ballast (62). In another embodiment the arm (66) is connected to a side plate (164) which is hinged. The arrangement enables flimsy reflectors (41) to be close coupled with electronic ballasts in a way which minimises Radio Frequency Interference (RFI).Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2019Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Inventor: Paul Andrew Cronk

Patent number: 9933141Abstract: A luminaire (41, 141) for a double ended tubular HID lamp (110) is disclosed. The luminaire has a V-shaped reflector (2) having a spine (3) and is bendable into a tensioned state having a generally M-shaped configuration. A pair of lamp holders (60, 61; 160, 161) is connected to the spine and spaced apart a distance corresponding to the length of the tubular lamp. A hollow conduit (43, 158) extends between the lamp holders. A pair of insulated cables (31, 32) interconnects the lamp holders with one of the cables (32) passing through the hollow conduit. The distance between the spine (3) and lamp (110) is able to be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2015Date of Patent: April 3, 2018Assignee: Hygro International Pty LimitedInventors: Paul Andrew Cronk, Christopher Reynolds

Publication number: 20110004350Abstract: A system and method for metering and controlling a renewable energy HVAC system. The system and method includes the steps of: receiving a measured value of a parameter of a renewable energy HVAC system at a central computer; determining an energy usage of the renewable energy HVAC system with the central computer based on the measured value; and estimating an energy usage of a simulated conventional HVAC system with the central computer based on the measured value. The system and method includes determining an energy savings of the renewable energy HVAC system with the central computer by comparing the determined energy usage to the estimated energy usage of the simulated conventional HVAC system. The system and method further includes transmitting the energy savings to a receiving device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2010Publication date: January 6, 2011Applicant: Indie Energy Systems CompanyInventors: Daniel CHEIFETZ, Erik Larson, Benjamin Heymer, Robert Olden, Andrew Cronk

Patent number: 6783263Abstract: An adjustable reflector device is disclosed. The device consists of an adjustable double parabolic reflective skin with an adjustable lamp mount, incorporating a V-shaped perforated heat shield, attached. The two part reflective skin forms a double parabolic shape when flexed back against a reinforced spine. This flexible shape is secured by lengthwise adjustable chain retainers attached a both ends of the skin. The lamp mount slides onto a pair of threaded bolts secured to the skin and adjustment is achieved by tightening or loosening the appropriate nuts. The heat shield slides onto the lamp fitting and is positioned appropriately to deflect incident heat and light. This device can be used to provide variable conditions of artificial illumination.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2000Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Inventor: Paul Andrew Cronk
