  • Publication number: 20220371748
Abstract: A liquid shim includes a bag (24) defining a closed inner volume and having sealed openings spaced inwardly from a periphery of the bag. The sealed openings are sealed from the closed inner volume and delimit holes extending through the bag. A liquid shim material (22) is flowable through the closed inner volume around the sealed openings and is curable to form a solid. The liquid shim material has a liquid shim material volume being less than the closed inner volume of the bag. A method of creating a liquid shim, and a method of shimming a gap between components, is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7681462
Abstract: A test system for measuring a rotary load comprises a stepper motor drives a gear box that is mounted at one end of a frame. A torque sensor provides a measurement signal transmission. The gear box's output shaft is connected to one of the torque sensor's stubs by means of a universal joint coupling. On the other side of the torque sensor a second universal joint coupling connects the sensor to a stainless steel shaft. A low friction flange bearing is used to provide support for the shaft. An angle encoder is disposed on the end of the shaft distal to the gear box. The gear box's output shaft, the torque sensor's cylindrical shaft hubs and associated couplings are arranged such that they are directly aligned with the shaft. The test system has been designed to take automated torque and angle readings from a shaft capable of rotary motion.

  • Patent number: 7656257
Abstract: A low energy magnet actuator allows magnetic fields to be turned on and off using a small amount of energy. The magnetic actuator according to the invention generally includes a base suitable for the support of a plurality of magnets. An actuatable shield is positioned in relation to the plurality of magnets so that it effectively blocks the magnetic field when it is positioned over at least one of the magnets. The magnetic fields of the plurality of magnets interact in a manner that allows low energy actuation of the shield.

  • Patent number: 7365698
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a dipole antenna comprises the steps of forming first and second radiating elements on the surface of a flexible substrate, the radiating elements including respective feed points for making operative electrical contact with a feed line including corresponding first and second feed conductors. The radiating elements are arranged on the substrate such that, in use, an input impedance of the dipole antenna is substantially matched to a characteristic impedance of the feed line over a selected frequency band. The flexible substrate is then formed into a substantially cylindrical shape. The resulting antenna comprises an integral dipole antenna member having radiating elements disposed on a surface of a substantially cylindrical substrate. The antenna avoids the need to separately manufacture the radiating elements, and subsequently to assemble the elements to form a dipole antenna.

  • Publication number: 20050136277
Abstract: The present invention provides smooth and even ultraviolet (UV) cured powder coatings for wood comprising one, two or three layers of one or more waterborne stains, or clear or tinted waterborne basecoat coatings and one or more topcoat layers of clear or tinted clear powder coatings made from one or more than one free radical UV curing resin, one or more than one photoinitiator, and one or more than one post-blend dry flow additive, such as fumed alumina. The coatings of the present invention have a natural wood appearance, are foam free and fully coat substrates at powder coating thicknesses ranging from 0.5 mil (12.7 ?m) to 2.0 mil (50.8 ?m). Accordingly, the coatings will fully and evenly coat uneven, beveled and/or routered substrate surfaces, including open grain natural wood substrates, such as oak.
