  • Publication number: 20220324448
Abstract: While operating a host vehicle in a lane, a target vehicle is detected entering the lane in front of the vehicle. A trajectory of the target vehicle is predicted based on sensor data. Upon determining that the target vehicle will pass through the lane based on the predicted trajectory, the host vehicle is operated based on determining a presence or an absence of a lead vehicle. Upon determining that the target vehicle will remain in the lane based on the predicted trajectory, the host vehicle is operated with the target vehicle as the lead vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200384964
Abstract: A system includes a computer having a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to determine a braking distance based on a gap distance between a primary vehicle and a second vehicle in an adjacent lane, and based on a speed of the second vehicle in the adjacent lane. The instructions include instructions to actuate a braking system of the primary vehicle when the primary vehicle is the braking distance from a third vehicle in a same lane as the primary vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200247409
Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to select a distance based on a determination of whether a lane adjacent a primary vehicle and a secondary vehicle in front of the primary vehicle is clear. The instructions include instructions to actuate a braking system of the primary vehicle when the primary vehicle is at the distance from the secondary vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10418020
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for reducing noise caused by a vehicle brake system. An example vehicle includes an adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, a noise cancellation system, a brake system, and a processor. The processor is configured to receive a deceleration request while the ACC is active, determine a braking characteristic based on the deceleration request, determine a noise signal based on the braking characteristic, and output the noise signal via the noise-cancellation system.

  • Patent number: 10328921
Abstract: A controller can display via an instrument cluster a brake capacity based on a temperature of friction material of at least one brake of a vehicle and a predicted brake fade threshold that is derived from a speed, mass, and current angle of inclination of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10300899
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for adjustment of maximum brake pump speed based on rate of change of target deceleration. An example vehicle includes a brake pump having a maximum pump speed. The example vehicle also includes a vehicle decelerator to determine a target deceleration for autonomous deceleration and send a signal to the brake pump to decelerate the vehicle at the target deceleration. The example vehicle also includes a maximum speed regulator to determine a rate of change of the target deceleration and adjust the maximum pump speed based on the rate of change.

  • Patent number: 10106137
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for adjustment of maximum brake pump speed based on target and measured decelerations. An example vehicle includes a brake pump having a maximum pump speed. The example vehicle also includes a vehicle decelerator to determine a target deceleration for autonomous deceleration and send a signal to the brake pump to decelerate the vehicle at the target deceleration. The example vehicle also includes a first sensor to detect a measured deceleration and a maximum speed regulator to adjust the maximum pump speed based on a difference between the target deceleration and the measured deceleration.

  • Patent number: 10065641
Abstract: A cruise control system for a vehicle includes a controller configured to maintain a speed of the vehicle about a setpoint, and in response to predicted brake capacity falling below a threshold based on predicted brake fade, reduce the setpoint and downshift a transmission of the vehicle to increase negative torque to reduce brake fade. Also, a powertrain of a vehicle includes an engine, an automatic transmission coupled with the engine, and a controller. The controller is configured to maintain a speed of the vehicle about a setpoint, and in response to a predicted brake capacity falling below a threshold based on predicted brake fade, reduce the setpoint and downshift the transmission to increase a negative torque.
