  • Publication number: 20220014984
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for the selective connection of a User Equipment (“UE”), that is camped on a Fifth Generation (“5G”) network during a Voice over WiFi (“VoWiFi”) call, to another network (e.g., a Long-Term Evolution (“LTE”) network). In this manner, if the WiFi connection is dropped, the UE may resume the call via the LTE network rather than first handing over to the 5G network.

  • Patent number: 11206548
Abstract: Systems and methods provide reliable voice connections and highest possible data rates in New Radio dual-connectivity environments, given limitations of available spectrum. A system includes a first wireless station and a second wireless station. The first wireless station provides a shared spectrum of a first frequency band, the shared spectrum including a first spectrum for a first cellular wireless standard and a second spectrum for a second cellular wireless standard. The second wireless station is at least partially within a coverage area of the first wireless station and provides a third spectrum for the second cellular wireless standard. The third spectrum is a millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The first wireless station broadcasts cell parameters barring an end device in an idle mode from camping on the second spectrum. The first wireless station or the second wireless station triggers the end device to swap to the second spectrum when a paging request for a voice call is received.

  • Publication number: 20210392491
Abstract: A user device may provide, to a network, a first request to attach to the network and a second request for management and administrative services associated with the network. The user device may receive a first response indicating whether the first request is granted. The user device may receive, when the first response indicates that the first request is granted, a second response indicating whether the second request is granted. The user device may provide to the network, when the second response indicates that the second is granted, a third request for an activation status of the user device and may receive, from the network, a third response indicating the activation status. The user device may update, based on the third response, an activation flag indicating the activation status and may provide, for display, a message indicating the activation status of the user device based on the activation flag.

  • Publication number: 20210337448
Abstract: A method, a system, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a core network selection service is provided. The core network selection service may minimize end devices transitioning between core networks of a multi-radio access technology (RAT) radio access network (RAN) based on cell selection priority configurations. The cell selection priority configurations may be provisioned on the end device via control messaging, such as system information block messages. The core network selection service may manage the end devices when in idle mode and in a connected mode.

  • Publication number: 20210314818
Abstract: A network device, of a fifth generation (5G) radio access network, may establish a connection or a session with a user equipment connected to a Wi-Fi network. The network device may determine an indicator indicating whether a 5G network preference is in effect based on a subscription of the user equipment and may provide the indicator to the user equipment. The network device may maintain the connection or the session with the user equipment when the indicator indicates that the Wi-Fi network is not preferred for Wi-Fi offload and may receive traffic from the user equipment when the indicator indicates that the Wi-Fi network is not preferred for Wi-Fi offload.

  • Publication number: 20210258835
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein bring a 5G standalone-capable end device back into 5G service to leverage the 5G network's data capacity as soon as a VoLTE call is over. A network device receives a fallback connection, for a 5G New Radio (NR) standalone-capable end device, from a second network to the first network to support a voice call on the end device, wherein the fallback connection supports a voice-over-LTE call. The network device detects an end of the VoLTE call and initiates, in response to the detecting, a handover of the end device back to the second network, wherein the initiating occurs while the end device is in a radio resource control (RRC) connected mode.

  • Publication number: 20210195475
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for ensuring that a User Equipment (“UE”) is provided an opportunity to scan for available cells in a wireless network in a manner that allows the UE to detect cells according to a particular radio frequency (“RF”) band. When receiving a measurement report from the UE that does not include cells implementing the particular RF band, a timer may be initiated during which subsequent measurement reports may be received from the UE. If a subsequent measurement from the UE includes a cell corresponding to the particular RF band, the UE may be instructed to connect to such a cell. Otherwise, the UE may be instructed to connect to another cell that does not implement the particular RF band.

  • Publication number: 20210195483
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for scanning for cells in a wireless network in a prioritized manner. A User Equipment (“UE”) may receive a neighboring cell list (“NCL”) or other indication of candidate cells for scanning. The UE may rank the candidate cells (e.g., based on which radio frequency (“RF”) band(s) are implemented by the candidate cells), and scan for the presence of the candidate cells in an order that is based on the ranking.

  • Publication number: 20210167937
Abstract: A device may receive a signal from a wireless station; and determine a network-permitted Time Division Duplex (TDD) uplink duty cycle based on the signal. If the determined network-permitted TDD uplink duty cycle is greater than a maximum allowable TDD uplink duty cycle for the device, when the device performs TDD uplink transmission after receiving a scheduling grant from the wireless station, the device may decrease the TDD uplink duty cycle of the device or may decrease a time-average transmission power of the device.
