  • Patent number: 8805737
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for operation upon data processing devices are provided for operating with a fraud detection system. As an example, a system and method can be configured for receiving, throughout a current day in real-time or near real-time, financial transaction data representative of financial transactions initiated by different entities. At multiple times throughout the day, a summarization of the financial transaction data (which has been received within a time period within the current day) is generated. The generated summarization is used to determine whether fraud has occurred with respect to a financial transaction contained in the received authorization data or with respect to a subsequently occurring financial transaction.

  • Patent number: 7471520
Abstract: In one aspect, an electronic assembly includes an interconnection substrate, a component, and a discontinuity compensator. The interconnection substrate includes a signal conductor and a ground conductor. The component includes a device having a signal line and a ground conductor, a package, and a signal lead. The signal lead is electrically coupled to an internal signal path of the package and has an external portion extending from the package to the signal conductor of the interconnection substrate. The discontinuity compensator electrically couples a ground path of the package to the ground conductor of the interconnection substrate. The discontinuity compensator includes an electrically conducting planar surface that is oriented in a plane intersecting the interconnection substrate and forms with at least a substantial part of the external portion of the signal lead a transmission line structure having an impedance substantially matching the nominal impedance over the specified bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 6529306
Abstract: A method and system for reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) that escapes a chassis for housing electro-optic components. The chassis includes a plurality of optical modules that each has a slot with a first dimension and a second dimension through which EMI can escape. An optical array is disposed in the slot. The optical array has a plurality of optical elements. At least one strip of conducting material is positioned between two optical elements at predetermined intervals as measured along the first dimension. The strip has a first end and a second end and is configured to extend substantially the second dimension. At least one of the first end or the second end is coupled to a ground potential. The strips effectively reduce the amount of EMI that escapes from the slot.

  • Publication number: 20020002504
Abstract: A mobile shopping assistant coupled to a global positioning system and a global computer network facilitating a potential consumer's purchasing decision. A mobile shopping assistant comprising an optical scanner and a global positioning system scans a bar code of a product. The information from the bar code along with location information of the mobile shopping assistant is transmitted to a global computer network such as the internet. Based upon the information provided, a price and discount server transmits back to the mobile shopping assistant pricing and location information about similar products. The potential consumer may then use this information to make a purchasing decision and to obtain the best value. The potential consumer saves considerable time in making a purchasing decision. Additionally, the potential consumer may save money, obtain a better value, or obtain the product more quickly based on the information provided.

  • Patent number: 5907830
Abstract: An electronic coupon distribution system providing on-line coupon information for a potential consumer using a personal computer connected to a host computer. A potential consumer using a personal computer and a modem connects to a host computer via the Internet or directly. The potential consumer may specify product preferences or search and view coupons of interest to the consumer. The consumer may then download from the host computer coupon information that may be printed on the potential consumer's printer connected to his personal computer. Information identifying the downloaded coupon is coded or encrypted onto the printed coupon to prevent unauthorized reproduction. The coupon distribution system may be used to obtain additional information about the potential consumer for future marketing purposes. The present invention greatly facilitates and makes economical distribution of coupons or certificates.
