Publication number: 20210379802Abstract: There is provided an injection mold system and a method for injection molding to produce a three-dimensional object. The system including: one or more extruders each adapted to receive one or more cartridges, the one or more cartridges containing extrudable material; an injection nozzle dimensioned to be positioned into an injection inlet of a mold; tubing each connecting one of the cartridges to the injection nozzle; and one or more controllers configured to control flow of the extrudable material from the one or more extruders to the injection nozzle to fill at least a portion of the interior chamber with the extrudable material to produce the three-dimensional object.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2019Publication date: December 9, 2021Inventors: Charles MIRE, Andrew FINKLE, Trevor SMALE

Patent number: 10987845Abstract: There is disclosed a multi-material extruder and extrusion method for 3D printing, and more particularly to an apparatus and method that is adapted to extrude a wide range of materials for printing 3D structures. In an aspect, the apparatus comprises a frame adapted to receive a removable syringe or cartridge with a depressible piston in an extended position, the syringe or cartridge containing material to be extruded. An extrusion motor is under the control of an extruder logic module to determine how quickly the piston of the syringe or cartridge is to be depressed to achieve a desired rate of extrusion of the material. A flexible length of tubing connects the tip of the syringe or cartridge to an extruder nozzle, which nozzle is mounted to a stylus which may be hand-held or mounted to a chassis of a 3D printing device. A feedback signal is used to provide a feedback signal to the extruder logic module to determine the rate of extrusion of material.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2015Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: STRUCTUR3D PRINTING INCORPORATEDInventors: Charles Mire, Andrew Finkle, Marc Castel
