Patent number: 10716390Abstract: A lanyard with attachment members such as a tool holding member, tether key, or carabiner, is provided. The lanyard includes one or more elastic cords within a sheath. The sheath has a much lower elasticity than the elastic cord. The higher spring constant or modulus of elasticity of the sheath limits the total extended length of the lanyard in operation. The elastic cords stretch to absorb the energy of falling equipment up to the length of the outer sheath. The attachment members may be attached to the sheath or may include components of the sheath and or the elastic cord. The lanyard allows for an elastic response to absorb the energy of a falling tool and a restraint to the total extended length of the lanyard.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2019Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Milwaukee Electric Tool CorporationInventors: Andrew G. Wagner, Trent T. Bauters

Publication number: 20200187631Abstract: The present disclosure describes clips for lanyards, such as hard hat lanyards. The clips include opposing teeth that move to a closed/clamped position to secure a lanyard to a user, such as to the clothes of a user. The clip includes a body, a lever and a grip. Opposing teeth are located on the grip and body. The clip includes multiple pivoting connections between the body, lever and grip. The teeth on the grip may lie along an arcuate path and/or may have a tooth depth that facilitates engagement with material such as clothing.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2019Publication date: June 18, 2020Inventors: Andrew G. Wagner, Trent T. Bauters, Caleb C. Adams, George Barton

Publication number: 20190170215Abstract: A lanyard assembly including a strap having a first end and a second end, an attachment mechanism coupled to the first end and a quick connect attachment mechanism connected to the second end. The quick connect attachment mechanism includes a swivel member and a cinch for securing a tool coupled to the swivel member. The swivel member is configured to allow rotation between the cinch and the strap and the quick connect attachment mechanism can be quickly engaged and disengaged from the strap to allow the quick connection of various tools.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2019Publication date: June 6, 2019Inventors: Andrew G. Wagner, Derek Rose, Anthony S. Graykowski, Jesse Marcelle, Travis J. Beck

Publication number: 20180326569Abstract: A wrench includes a body having a head and a handle portion defining a longitudinal axis. The wrench includes a first jaw coupled to the head with the first jaw including first teeth and an edge. The edge defines a width of the first jaw. The wrench includes a second jaw extending through an aperture of the head with the second jaw including a threaded portion and second teeth. The wrench includes an actuator coupled to the threaded portion of the second jaw such that rotation of the actuator relative to the second jaw moves the second teeth relative to the first teeth. A length is measured from the edge of the first jaw to the second end of the handle portion parallel to the longitudinal axis. A ratio of the width of the first jaw over the length is less than 0.06.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2018Publication date: November 15, 2018Inventors: Cheng Zhang Li, Scott M. Hangartner, Andrew G. Wagner, Brian J. Doyle

Publication number: 20160288352Abstract: A knife having a handle, a blade, and a guard. The handle includes a first detent on a first sidewall adjacent a front end of the handle and a second detent on a second sidewall adjacent the front end. The blade extends from the front end of the handle. The guard includes a first detent inside the guard on a first side wall adjacent an aperture of the guard and a second detent inside the guard on a second sidewall adjacent the aperture. The first detent of the handle engages the first detent of the guard and the second detent of the handle engages the second detent of the guard to removably couple the handle and the guard.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2016Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventors: Grant T. Squiers, Andrew G. Wagner, Matthew W. Naiva, Derek Rose

Patent number: 9267778Abstract: A tape measure includes a housing assembly having a first side wall, a second side wall, and a peripheral wall extending from the first side wall to the second side wall. The housing assembly defines a cavity, and the peripheral wall defines a bottom surface and a tape port. A measuring tape is rotatably supported by the housing. At least a portion of the measuring tape forms a spool disposed within the cavity. The measuring tape extends and retracts from the cavity through the tape port. A hook member is fixedly coupled to an end portion of the measuring tape. A first lamp is coupled to the housing assembly and is oriented to illuminate a portion of the measuring tape.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2013Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL CORPORATIONInventors: Wade F. Burch, Andrew G. Wagner

Publication number: 20150360351Abstract: A pipe wrench includes a head having a first aperture defining a central axis. The pipe wrench includes a first jaw coupled to the head having a plurality of teeth defining a first contact region, and a second jaw partially extending through the aperture of the head having a threaded portion and a plurality of teeth defining a second contact region. The second contact region extends beyond the first contact region in a direction parallel to side surfaces of the head. The pipe wrench includes a biasing mechanism located within the first aperture to align the threaded portion of the second jaw with the central axis of the first aperture, and an actuator having threads engaged with the threaded portion of the second jaw such that rotation of the actuator moves the second contact region of the second jaw relative to the first contact region of the first jaw.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2015Publication date: December 17, 2015Inventors: Kyle Harvey, Jesse Marcelle, Cheng Zhang Li, James A. Cemke, JR., Andrew G. Wagner, Timothy Janda, Eric Mackey, Steven W. Hyma
