  • Patent number: 7604056
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a downhole valve. The downhole valve includes, a flapper seat, a flapper sealable against the flapper seat, a spring housing in axial alignment with the flapper seat and a metal-to-metal seal disposed between the flapper seat and the spring housing. The metal-to-metal seal is sealable to both the flapper seat and the spring housing when in an energized position. Additionally, the metal-to-metal seal is a separate component from both the flapper seat and the spring housing.

  • Publication number: 20080223581
Abstract: A ball type downhole barrier valve capable of bidirectional sealing features a ball rotating on its axis to open or close with control line pressure to an actuating rod piston assembly. The ball is also shiftable to a locked open position. A cage surrounds the ball and retains opposed seats to it. The cage is made from one piece and tangential holes are drilled and tapped before the piece is longitudinally split with a wire EDM cutting technique. Fasteners to rejoin the cut halves properly space them to the original one piece internal dimension. Auxiliary tools allow determination of spacing of internal components so that a desired spring preload on the seats against the ball can be achieved. Seals on the sleeves that form ball seats help prevent leakage due to ball distortion at high differential pressures when the valve is closed.

  • Publication number: 20070199250
Abstract: A roof flashing for or suitable for flashing a “ridgeline” as herein defined, the flashing being of multiple materials and being at least in part laminated and comprising or including a “ridge” overlying region to overlie the actual or phantom “ridge” to be flashed, the ridge being as herein defined, a first flanking region extending from the ridge overlying region, and a second flanking region extending from the ridge overlying region, wherein the ridge overlying region is conformed to a retainable three dimensional form and/or is conformable and can retain to a three dimensional form, and wherein the first and second flanking regions extend from the ridge overlying region so as to flank the actual or phantom “ridge” to be flashed by the flashing, and wherein there is a weathering surface of one or more weathering material(s) and at least one of the flanking regions has at least a partial underlying support of the weathering material(s).

  • Publication number: 20070107347
Abstract: A building cladding has a cladding material (6) which is fusible and which attached to fastening (7) by fusing. The fastening penetrating the building substrate (4). By fusion to itself the cladding material forms a generally continuous membrane over the substrate. Preferably polyurethane is used as the cladding material fusible surface.

  • Patent number: 6801261
Abstract: The invention relates to the processing of digital data which is transmitted by broadcasters of television programs for receipt by users of a broadcast data receiver which includes decoding the transmitted data and then processing the decoded data to generate video and/or audio displays on a television set or other form of display screen in the form of a television program. The television system allows the user to select to monitor a selected program for designated criteria and, if the criteria is/are detected, the system activates an alert for the user, stores the data for the selected program or displays the selected television program thereby allowing the user to be aware of a designated occurrence in the television program even though they were not previously watching the television or were watching another program.

  • Patent number: 4458751
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the insertion and disengagement of a tubing string used in a subterranean well subject to oppositely directed pressure differentials is disclosed. A packer apparatus which anchors a portion of the tubing string against rotation is used in conjunction with a disengagable on/off connector and a valve apparatus capable of withstanding oppositely directed pressure differentials. The valve apparatus can be selectively opened and closed by rotary manipulation of the tubing string through the disengagable on/off connector. Portions of the tubing string above the valve apparatus can then be inserted into the well or removed from the well or tested for pressure integrity.

  • Patent number: 4445572
Abstract: An apparatus, such as a shear-out safety joint, which is incorporated in a subterranean well tubing string for separating or severing the tubing string when subjected to excessive loads is disclosed. The shear-out safety joint is used with a safety valve and by providing a prescribed failure point will ensure that the safety valve remains intact. The apparatus includes inner and outer telescoping members which can separate when the tubing above and below the joint moves in opposite directions. A shear ring connecting the two telescoping members will shear when a predetermined load is applied. The joint also has a second releasable connecting member extending through the inner telescoping member and engaging the outer telescoping member which will support a load greater than that which can be carried by the shear ring. A longitudinally shiftable member, movable within a recess, holds the second connecting member in engagement but disengages the second connecting member when moved to a second position.

  • Patent number: 4421171
Abstract: A valve is provided for use in a subterranean well. Rotary manipulation of a fluid transmission conduit results in rotation of a ball valve to selectively open and close the fluid conduit. Rotary manipulation of the fluid conduit is imparted to the ball valve by means of a lever assembly which transfers sufficient force for activation of the valve permitting the valve to be used in the presence of significant pressure differentials. Seals are provided on opposite sides of the ball valve to prevent communication of either fluid or pressure from either above or below the ball valve.

  • Patent number: 4403654
Abstract: A hanger assembly for use in a subterranean well incorporates a torque transmitting expansion joint providing a selectively adjustable extent of axial contraction. The expansion joint essentially comprises a telescopic inter-relationship of two sleeve assemblies. One sleeve assembly carries a fixedly mounted rectangular key which is engagable only with an axially extending slot provided in the other sleeve assembly. The first mentioned sleeve assembly also rotatably mounts a key which cooperates with a peripherally extending slot provided in the other sleeve assembly. The axial extending slot connects with a trough portion of the peripherally extending slot. Successive reciprocations of the two sleeve assemblies produce an incremental rotation of the round key around the peripherally extending slot and normally limits the extent of axial contraction of the two sleeve assemblies to the axial extent of such peripherally extending slot.
