  • Patent number: 11932497
Abstract: A method of inverting workpieces in a mass production process includes: advancing an end effector in electronic synchronization with advancement of a carrier to synchronize arrival of the carrier at a stop position with arrival of the end effector at an unloading position, in which the end effector is in alignment with a workpiece held by the carrier for engaging the workpiece; while the end effector is in engagement with the workpiece, retracting the end effector away from the carrier to unload the workpiece from the carrier and advancing the end effector back toward the carrier to load the workpiece back into the carrier; and rotating the end effector relative to the carrier to invert the workpiece in electronic synchronization with the retracting and advancing of the end effector for loading the workpiece back into the carrier when inverted.

  • Publication number: 20240085299
Abstract: An inspection system capable of identifying particles within a liquid container such as a vial or syringe. The inspection system captures images of a container after it has stopped spinning while it is moving in a linear path through the field of view of an imager. A plurality of images are captured of the container at different positions within the field of view. The images are registered to each other and combined in order to identify particles that have moved between images, which are considered particles.

  • Patent number: 8437919
Abstract: A vehicle includes at least one reconfigurable system having a plurality of selectively variable parameters, and a controller that is operatively connected to the at least one reconfigurable system to control the values of the plurality of selectively variable parameters. The controller is also configured to receive data indicative of physical characteristics of a person from at least one data storage medium, and configured to determine values of the selectively variable parameters according to a predetermined algorithm based on the data indicative of physical characteristics of a person. The controller is also configured to cause the selectively variable parameters to assume the determined values.

  • Publication number: 20100291214
Abstract: Disclosed is a three-dimensional microfiber extrudate structure and a process of forming a three-dimensional microfiber extrudate structure. The three-dimensional microfiber extrudate structure includes a matrix having a three-dimensional geometry wherein the three-dimensional geometry is a visco-elastic relaxation state of a preform introduced to a medium.

  • Publication number: 20100291384
Abstract: A fiber having a non-uniform composition is disclosed. The fiber includes a first domain having a first composition and a second domain having a second composition different from the first composition. The fiber includes an interphase region intermediate the first and second domains that includes a blend of the first and second compositions to provide a gradual transition from the first domain composition to the second domain composition. A method for making such fibers is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6738753
Abstract: A modular artificial intelligence learning entity (a “golem”) which is replicated many times to form a super-entity that shows intelligent behavior transcending that of its individual constituents. Within the group of golems, individual golems may occupy roles, and are role differentiated, in that structurally identical entities perform different functions and exhibit different behavior depending on their personas and the learning they have completed as driven by other entities. The group of golems is hierarchically organized, in the sense that ‘superior’ entities issue policies to ‘subordinate’ entities. In addition to responding to ‘sense’ input from its environment, the golem responds to policy requirements set by other entities, including its superiors, and in turn sets policy requirements for its subordinates.

  • Patent number: 5907901
Abstract: A machine (40) is disclosed for crimping a terminal (12) onto a wire (10) thereby forming a crimped wire assembly (32). The machine includes a crimping bar 64 and a mating anvil (60) for performing the crimping operation. A terminal feed unit (70) is provided for feeding a strip (24) of terminals. The machine includes a wire guiding device (80) having an upper half (82) attached to the crimping bar (64) and a lower half (84) attached to the anvil (60). Each of the upper and lower halves include two wire guide members (88) that slide toward and away from a central axis (116) extending through the barrel (22) of the terminal (12) to be crimped. The ends of the four wire guide members (88), each having a quarter of a conical surface (118) formed thereon, are arranged so that the four surfaces form a complete conical section for guiding the wire (10) as it is being inserted into the barrel (22) of the terminal (12).
