    Abstract: The disclosure includes methods and systems for making orthopedic connections where there is unique adjustability to the connection. Illustratively, one embodiment provides a connecting assembly for connecting a plurality of orthopedic components. Such connecting assemblies can include a first orthopedic component that provides a female bore. Additionally the assembly can include a second orthopedic component that can be or include a male-type connecting member that is positionable in the bore of the first orthopedic component. In one preferred form, the male-type connecting member will be a quasi-spherical member. The quasi-spherical member can include a textured outer surface, e.g., for contacting one or more walls or surfaces in the bore in a fashion that removeably locks or helps to removeably lock or fix the quasi-spherical member in the bore.

When the switchable view angle control LCD in the first state, the view angle control device operates in a narrow angle view mode in which off-axis polarized light from the polarized light source is changed by the switchable view angle control LCD so that the off-axis light is absorbed by the front polarizer, and on-axis light passes through the switchable view angle control LCD and the front polarizer.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing reflected towards a higher frequency radio frequency (RF) generator during a period of a lower frequency RF generator and for using a relationship to reduce reflected power are described. By tuning the higher frequency RF generator during the period of the lower frequency RF generator, precise control of the higher frequency RF generator is achieved for reducing power reflected towards the higher frequency RF generator. Moreover, by using the relationship to reduce the reflected power, time is saved during processing of a wafer.

The LCD includes a plurality of layers, the layers comprising from a viewing side: a first linear polariser; an external retarder that is made of a cyclic olefin polymer (COP) material or a cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) material; a colour filter substrate; a colour filter layer; an internal reactive mesogen (RM) retarder alignment layer; an internal reactive mesogen (RM) retarder; a liquid crystal (LC) layer; and a second linear polarizer. The external retarder and the internal RM retarder are configured such that the optical properties (for example light polarization control function) of the external retarder and the internal retarder are matched to negate each other for light passing through the external retarder and the internal RM retarder. The LCD simultaneously maintains high image quality in both high and low ambient lighting conditions.

    Abstract: A micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) array system is configured to apply suction forces for the manipulation of objects. The MEMS system includes includes a two-dimensional MEMS array of a plurality of individual MEMS elements. Each MEMS element comprises: a casing structure; a flexible membrane attached to the casing structure; and an electrode structure, wherein a voltage applied to the electrode structure actuates the MEMS element to cause the flexible membrane to flex relative to the casing structure. The flexible membrane and the casing structure define a gap into which the flexible membrane may flex, and a foot extends from the flexible membrane in a direction away from the casing structure, wherein the foot and the flexible membrane define a clearance region on an opposite side of the flexible membrane from the gap. When the MEMS element interacts with an object to be manipulated the foot spaces the membrane apart from the object.

    Abstract: A handguard attachment assembly for a firearm is disclosed. The assembly includes a handguard with an elongate structure extending between a first end and a second end, where the handguard has at least one opening proximate the first end. A flange insert is received in an opening on a first side of the handguard and engages the handguard. A fastener secures the flange insert to a connector positioned over the barrel nut. The fastener can be tightened to draw the handguard to the barrel nut. The connector can be a bridge connector positioned on or over the barrel nut within the handguard, or can be a connector with a flange portion that engages the second side of the handguard and has a connector body that extends towards the flange insert on the first side, to name a few examples.
