  • Publication number: 20050010692
Abstract: A general global gateway (GGG) intemetworks between a first network and a second network so that a mobile station having a subscription in a first network can roam into a second network and be authenticated to use the second network. The GGG obtains authentication parameters from the mobile station and determines whether the authentication parameters satisfy GGG authentication criteria. If it does, then the GGG accesses the first network and stores authentication information from the first network for subsequent accesses to the first network by the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6766367
Abstract: A method for fetching sparsely indexed MIB tables for a managed network device using an approximation operation, such as a GetNext SNMP operation, comprises sending a plurality of operations in a first data packet at least one of the plurality of approximation operations specifying a speculative approximation. • Patent number: 6704284
Abstract: A system and method for providing a stress value representing the performance of a network comprising network devices is described. A raw data value for a monitored characteristic of a network device or link is obtained by the management system and compared with a predetermined threshold value for the monitored characteristic. If the raw data value is greater than or equal to said threshold value, the management system provides a stress value equal to a default value, said default value being a maximum or minimum value of a predefined bounded range; and if the raw value is less than said threshold value, the management system calculates a stress value within said predefined bounded range using an appropriate algorithm for said monitored characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6672484
Abstract: An integrated heat exchanger and liquid dispensing unit 10 for flash cooling beer includes a main body 12 provided with an internal flow path 14 having an inlet 16, an outlet 18, and a void 20 in fluid communication therebetween. The void 20 is formed from four cylindrical chambers 22a-22d that are interlinked so as to be in mutual fluid communication with each other. Chambers 22 are formed in a thermal insulating block 26 held within the main body 12. Conduits 30c-30d are disposed within chambers 22a-22d respectively. Each conduit has an inlet 32 and an outlet 34. The outlet 34 is connected directly to a dispensing tap 36. The heat transfer fluid 45 passes through the fluid flow path 14 and thus flows through and about the conduits 30. Beer enters through inlet 32, passes through the conduit 30 and is dispensed through tap 36. The beer is cooled by virtue of a heat exchange with the fluid 45 flowing through the chambers 22.

  • Publication number: 20030226336
Abstract: A forage compactor for compressing forage or crop into bales of increased crop density for transportation. A crop feed area feeds crop to a conveyor where it is moved to a scale area for proper bale weight. An indexer severs the crop while moving it from the scale area to the compression chamber. The crop is compressed and moved to a strapping chamber where straps are applied to the compressed crop. The bound bale is manipulated as desired at the product handling area downstream from the strapping. chamber. The crop is provided with substantially constant stress during compression and moisture sensors in the strapping chamber sense the moisture content of the severed crop within the bale to be bound. The weight of the crop within the compression area may be reduced to reduce machine overloading. Keyway plungers provide reduced side loading on the main ram used for crop compression. The feed inlet area is located on the same side of the.

  • Patent number: 6633230
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method for determining an optimum threshold value for a monitored characteristic of a network is described. The optimum threshold value is determined by counting a number of previously received events generated from values for a monitored characteristic which were above or below an existing threshold value for the monitored characteristic, and determining the optimum threshold value in dependence on the counted number. An optimum threshold value is provided, which is tailored to suit the network concerned.

  • Publication number: 20020161877
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method processes network management data received during the monitoring of a network and generates events for presentation in an event list to a user when certain event conditions are detected. Network management data received in relation to an event condition is processed to determine whether it represents a recurring event condition. A recurring event condition is determined if a predetermined number of equivalent events have been generated, and appear in the event list, in an immediately preceding time period. In the described embodiment, if a recurring event condition occurs, a recurring event is generated, and subsequent occurrences of the event condition are not included in the event list presented to the user.

  • Publication number: 20020143917
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method processes network management data in a network management system during the monitoring of a network. The apparatus and method considers whether the network management data indicates that the network condition of an event previously generated by the network management system is no longer present on the network, and therefore resolved. In a preferred embodiment, if the network management data indicates that a previous event has been resolved, the event is marked as resolved for presentation in an event list to the user. The user can then easily identify events which have been resolved.

  • Patent number: 6459499
Abstract: A system for scanning a document and sending a corresponding image file to a remote recipient using a software autosend utility that accesses predefined profiles of potential recipients. The predefined profiles including transport protocols and image scanning characteristics for such recipients. According to the invention, the autosend utility is launched, and the autosend utility receives user input identifying the remote recipient. Based on the profile corresponding to the identity of the remote recipient, image scanning characteristics and a transport protocol for the resulting image data are is both determined. The document is scanned in accordance with the determined image scanning characteristics, and a temporary image file containing image data for the scanned document is stored. The temporary image file is sent to the remote recipient using the determined transport protocol.
