Abstract: A balanced food product and related method for preparation of the same is provided for optimizing the metabolism of the body of the consumer. The balanced food product may include a first fruit component, a second fruit component, and a protein component, as well as a sweetener component, and an oil binding agent component. Each of the components contributes an amount of carbohydrates, protein, and fat so as to yield a particular predetermined ratio therebetween and selectively provide a predetermined glycemic load to the consumer.

Abstract: A food product and related method is provided in which the product is prepared in a manner that allows for optimum removal of food for consumption while retaining the delectable taste of the food and the overall easy storage and disposal of the food product. The food item is made by a method that includes extruding, forming or injecting a fruit substance so as to form the food item and then coating the food item with a release agent that substantially prevents the wrapper from adhering to the food item as the wrapper is removed from the food item. The food product may also be fortified with nutritional supplements or packaged in combination with other food products such as cheese-based or peanut butter-based foods.

Abstract: An edible, nutrient-rich drinking straw for use in consuming beverages. Preferably, the drinking straw is formed from one or more compressed fruit powders, natural flavor, natural color and humectant that is extruded to assume the drinking straw shape. Thereafter a sealing coating, such as wax, is applied to the straw. The straw of the present invention may be formulated to have a desired rate at which it dissolves into a beverage, and may further be formed to have any of a variety of alternative configurations, such as other types of utensils for consuming food and beverages.

Abstract: Disclosed is a combination food and nutraceutical package which provides convenient and easy access to a food product and at least one nutraceutical. The packaging comprises two segments which secure the food product and the nutraceutical so as to provide a shelf-stable environment that prevents contamination between the various contents. In one embodiment, a single nutraceutical is packaged with a food product. In other embodiments, multiple nutraceuticals with a food product are secured. In yet another embodiment, the food product and nutraceuticals are placed within a tray and then sealed with the two segments. The food product is preferably a fruit based substance, but it may take other forms. The nutraceuticals may be a solid mass, in pill or capsule form, or they may be liquid housed within a container.
