  • Patent number: 9773487
Abstract: A pickup unit for an electrical stringed instrument, such as an electric guitar, includes a housing structured to be connected to the stringed instrument and a number of pickups provided within the housing, each pickup being structured to produce signals corresponding to vibration of one or more strings of the stringed instrument. The pickup unit also includes a number of capacitive touch electrodes provided on or within the housing, wherein the pickup unit is structured to generate control signals in response to a user of the pickup unit touching one or more of the number of capacitive touch electrodes, the control signal being configured to control processing of the signals produced by the number of pickups.

  • Patent number: 9064483
Abstract: A method of producing an output from an electrical stringed musical instrument, such as a guitar, having a plurality of strings includes steps of (i) receiving a plurality of analog signals, each analog signal being generated in response to vibration of a corresponding one of the plurality of strings and each analog signal having an associated frequency, (ii) identifying from among the analog signals a particular one of the analog signals having the lowest associated frequency, and (iii) creating an output electrical signal based on only the particular one of the analog signals, the output electrical signal having a converted frequency that is lower than the associated frequency of the particular one of the analog signals.

  • Patent number: 8502061
Abstract: A signal processing circuit allows a stringed instrument, like a guitar, to produce audio in an extended range. In the case of an electric guitar, the guitar can produce audio in an extended range including conventional lead and bass. An electric pickup for a stringed instrument includes an onboard rechargeable battery that modifies and boosts the signal produced by the pickup.
