  • Patent number: 11291746
Abstract: A wound dressing makes use of a saccharide, such as Manuka honey, in combination with collagen in order to suppress the efficacy of matrix metalloproteinases enzymes (“MMPs”) present in chronic wounds. The mixture is applied to an absorbent surface that is designed to absorb the mixed saccharide only partially.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 2019
Date of Patent: April 5, 2022
    Assignee: Medline Industries, LP
Inventors: Debashish Chakravarthy, Andrew J. Ford

  • Patent number: 10086017
Abstract: A wound dressing makes use of polysaccharides, including the formation of a range of variable viscosity mixtures that use a solid polysaccharide such as medical grade cane sugar and a liquid polysaccharide such as honey, both of which have inherent beneficial properties for wound healing. The mixture is applied to an absorbent surface that is designed to absorb the mixed polysaccharide only partially.

Date of Patent: October 2, 2018

  • Publication number: 20090054889
Abstract: An electrosurgical system includes an electrosurgical generator, for generating radio frequency power, and an electrosurgical instrument including an electrode assembly. The electrosurgical instrument is detachably connectible to the generator such that radio frequency power can be conveyed to the electrode assembly. The generator includes a counter incremented each time an electrosurgical instrument is connected to the generator, and the electrosurgical instrument includes a memory device capable of recording the value of the counter when the electrosurgical instrument is connected to the generator. The system further includes a comparison unit capable of comparing the current value of the counter with the value of the counter stored in the memory device, and generating a signal when the difference between the two values of the counter is greater than a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7282048
Abstract: In an electrosurgical generator for generating radio frequency power, the generator includes a radio frequency output stage having two or more output connections, and a power supply coupled to the output stage for supplying power to the output stage. A controller is operable to cause the generator to supply a blended output signal alternating constantly between a first output signal across the output connections in which the radio frequency output voltage developed across the output connections is limited to at least a first predetermined threshold value for cutting or vaporisation of tissue, and a second output signal across the output connections in which the radio frequency output voltage developed across the output connections is limited to a second threshold value for coagulation.

Date of Patent: October 16, 2007
    Assignee: Gyrus Medical Limited
