  • Patent number: 6255533
Abstract: Organic by-products having higher boiling points than cyclohexanone (usually obtained from the bottoms of a distillation operation to separate cyclohexanone from other reaction products during cyclohexanone production) can be converted to recoverable cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol using a catalyst having high aluminum oxide concentrations. The preferred catalyst is one which has an aluminum oxide (Al2O3) content of at least about 95 wt. %, and more preferably greater than about 99 wt. %.

  • Patent number: 6015445
Abstract: Solids having a tendency to cake are treated with distillation heavies that are liquid at about 60.degree. C. or less and are obtained from production of a ketone having the formula:R.dbd.O,wherein R is substituted or unsubstituted, branched, straight chain or cyclic, C.sub.4 to C.sub.18. • Patent number: 5874651
Abstract: A process for increasing the amount of isolatable products in a by-product stream generated in the production of 1,6 hexanediol includes combining the by-product stream with water to form a combination of the water and the by-product stream; and reacting the combination at a temperature between about 250.degree. C. to about 400.degree. C. at a pressure from about 1,000 psig to about 3,000 psig to form one or more reaction products.

Inventors: Andrew J. McNabb, Rebecca E. Phillips
  • Patent number: 5855816
Abstract: A substantially dust-free solid that is treated with a blend of water or other solvent and certain distillation bottoms. The distillation bottoms are at about 60.degree. C. or less and are obtained from production of an alcohol having the formula:R2--R1--OH,wherein R1 is substituted or unsubstituted branched, straight chain or cyclic C.sub.4 to C.sub.12 and R2 is OH or H.

  • Patent number: 5346620
Abstract: The present invention is a process for treatment of waste water streams having a sodium sulfate content of above 20 percent. The process is useful for treating waste water generated in the production of polyethyleneimine and cyclohexanone. The process includes the steps of removing sodium sulfate from waste water by the addition of organic solvent. The waste water having reduced sodium sulfate content is then subjected to biological treatment with activated sludge. First the waste water is subjected to pre-treatment. Pre-treated waste water is combined other waste water and treated by denitrification and nitrification.
