  • Publication number: 20030009261
Abstract: A robot which incorporates a body, arms with a hand grip, legs, several sensors, light elements, an audio system, and a video system. The sensors allows the robot to interact with objects in the room, and prevents the robot from traveling off an edge or bumping into obstacles. The light elements allow the robot to express moods. The audio system allows the robot to detect and transmit sounds. The video system allows a user to remotely view the area in front of the robot. Additionally, the robot may operate in a plurality of modes, including modes that allow the robot to operate autonomously. The robot may operate autonomously in an automatic mode, a security mode, a greet mode, and a monitor mode. Further, the robot can be manipulated remotely.

  • Publication number: 20020189551
Abstract: An electronic device detects the presence of an animal such as a pet in a protected area and outputs a deterrent signal that preferably includes the voice of the pet's owner admonishing the animal. The animal is detected by sensing at least one of sound, heat, vibration, and motion. The deterrent signal may include loud noises, and signals audible to the animal but not to humans. The deterrent signal may also include bursts of light. The device can vary the nature and quality of the deterrent signal if the animal remains near the protected area for a predetermined time.

  • Publication number: 20020193908
Abstract: The present invention is a robot which incorporates abode, two arms, two legs, several sensors, an audio system, a light assembly, and a video device. The sensors located throughout the body of the robot combined with an edge detection sensor allows the robot to interact with objects in the room, and prevents the robot from traveling off an edge or bumping into obstacles. The audio system allows the robot to detect and transmit sounds. The video device allows a user to remotely view the area in front of the robot. Additionally, the robot may operate in a plurality of modes which allow the robot to operate autonomously. The robot may operate autonomously in an automatic mode, a security mode, a greet mode, and a monitor mode. Further, the robot can be manipulated remotely.

  • Patent number: 6444291
Abstract: A protection layer for use in a waterproofing or roofing system and a method for making the protection layer in a rollable form is disclosed. The protection layer includes a core matrix of felt and asphalt saturant typical in many roofing products. The protection layer also includes a unique coating applied to the matrix. The coating comprises a mixture of asphaltic waste, a relatively soft asphalt, and a filler. The addition of the coating to the matrix results in a product that is flexible enough to allow the product to be rolled without cracking, yet is sufficiently puncture and scuff resistant to adequately protect an underlying membrane.

  • Patent number: 6350417
Abstract: An electro-kinetic electro-static air conditioner includes a mechanism to clean the wire-like electrodes in the first electrode array. A length of flexible MYLAR type sheet material projects from the base of the second electrode array towards and beyond the first electrode array. The distal end of each sheet includes a slit that engages a corresponding wire-like electrode. As a user moves the second electrode array up or down within the conditioner housing, friction between slit edges and the wire-like electrode cleans the electrode surface. Another embodiment includes a bead-like member having a through opening or channel, through which the wire-like electrode passes. As the conditioner is turned upside down and rightside up, friction between the opening in the bead-like member and wire-like electrode cleans the electrode surface.

Abstract: An electro-kinetic electrostatic air conditioner includes a mechanism to clean the wire-like electrodes in the first electrode array. The sheet material may be biasedly pivotably attached to the base of the second electrode array, and may be urged away from and parallel to the wire-like electrodes when the conditioner is in use. Another embodiment includes a bead-like member having a through opening or channel, through which the wire-like electrode passes.

  • Patent number: 5662411
Abstract: A motion activated light fixture has a housing comprised of a canopy, a base formed integral with the canopy and at least one illumination source mounted on the housing. The housing has a centrally located mounting hole which enables the base and canopy to be rotated 360 degrees around the mounting hole prior to being mounted on a selected vertical or horizontal surface. The sensor component mounts on an outer surface of the housing and includes a lens plate in which plural lens segments are formed in a plurality of rows so as to provide a substantially wide angle of view of up to 180 degrees and which view can be variably positioned utilizing the referred to mounting hole configuration.

Abstract: This device includes: (a) an access opening, (b) support structure located adjacent an edge of the access opening and containing a plurality of slots, and (c) a sheet-metal door having one edge located adjacent the support structure, having a closed position covering the access opening, and having a fully-open position in which the door is perpendicular to its position when closed. The door is swingable between its closed and fully-open positions about a pivot axis located near said one door edge. The door includes a plurality of tabs projecting outwardly from said one edge, each tab being of a generally L-shaped cross-section when viewed from a reference plane perpendicular to the pivot axis. Each tab comprises a first arm located in the major plane of the door and a second arm extending transversely of the first arm.
