  • Patent number: 12293997
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for forming an electrically conductive ink able to be deposited through a print nozzle during a 3D printing operation. The method may involves providing an electrically non-conductive flowable material adapted to be flowed through a print nozzle during a 3D printing operation. A predetermined quantity of chiplets may then be mixed into flowable material, in accordance with a predefined percolation threshold, to form a percolating chiplet network within the polymer as the ink is flowed through the print nozzle and deposited on a surface. The chiplets each form an engineered electronic component, and ones of the chiplets randomly connect, in accordance with the predefined percolation threshold, to form an electrically conductive circuit having a predetermined circuit characteristic.

Abstract: In one aspect the present disclosure relates to a 3D printed signal control backbone apparatus. The apparatus may have a filament including a first material section and a plurality of second material sections. The first material section is bounded on opposing ends by the second material sections. The first material section is formed by an ink having a percolating network of a plurality of chiplets infused in a non-conductive polymer. The plurality of chiplets form electrically responsive elements imparting a predetermined logic function and which are responsive to a predetermined electrical signal. The second material sections are formed by an ink which is electrically conductive.

  • Patent number: 11707719
Abstract: Fabrication of functional polymer-based particles by crosslinking UV-curable polymer drops in mid-air and collecting crosslinked particles in a solid container, a liquid suspension, or an air flow. The particles can contain different phases in the form or layered structures that contain one to multiple cores, or structures that are blended with dissolved or emulsified smaller domains. A curing system produces ultraviolet rays that are directed onto the particles in the jet stream from one side. A reflector positioned on other side of the jet stream reflects the ultraviolet rays back onto the particles in the jet stream.

  • Patent number: 11499248
Abstract: An electric field drives nanocrystals dispersed in solvents to assemble into ordered three-dimensional superlattices. A first electrode and a second electrode 214 are in the vessel. The electrodes face each other. A fluid containing charged nanocrystals fills the vessel between the electrodes. The electrodes are connected to a voltage supply which produces an electrical field between the electrodes. The nanocrystals will migrate toward one of the electrodes and accumulate on the electrode producing ordered nanocrystal accumulation that will provide a superlattice thin film, isolated superlattice islands, or coalesced superlattice islands.

  • Publication number: 20220255463
Abstract: A triboelectric device artificial air gap between the two materials to create the voltage potential. A method of using a flexible, compressive material as a spacer to create an artificial air gap that will allow the two materials to transfer electrons and provide a restorative force to separate the two materials when pressed together. The result is a device that does not require an air gap to generate a voltage potential, which in turn reduces the necessary footprint of the triboelectric device to a thin film and improves its mechanical robustness and lifetime.
