  • Publication number: 20230182383
Abstract: Methods for additive manufacturing are provided. In embodiments, such a method comprises illuminating a photothermal base with light, the photothermal base comprising a photothermal material and mounted in an additive manufacturing system to form a first interface between a surface of the photothermal base and a curable composition comprising thermally curable components, wherein the light induces light-to-energy conversion in the photothermal base to generate heat at the first interface, thereby inducing curing of the thermally curable components to form a first cured region. Additive manufacturing systems and photothermal bases are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20230139931
Abstract: In embodiments, a method for additive manufacturing of a metal-incorporated resin object comprises illuminating a curable composition comprising prepolymers, a metal compound, a photoredox catalyst, a polymerization initiator, and optionally, a redox agent, with light having a first wavelength, wherein the metal of the metal compound is characterized by an initial oxidation state, and the illumination induces polymerization reactions between prepolymers to form a first cured region and induces redox reactions to change the initial oxidation state of the metal in the first cured region. The method further comprises inducing polymerization reactions between prepolymers to form a second cured region different from the first cured region without inducing redox reactions in the second cured region. Also provided are the curable compositions, the additive manufacturing systems for carrying out the methods, and the metal-incorporated resin objects.

  • Publication number: 20230002546
Abstract: A reactant composition for forming a polymer via metal-free ring-opening metathesis polymerization may comprise a stabilizer, a stabilizing reactant comprising a stabilizing moiety covalently bound to a reactant moiety, or both; wherein the stabilizer is a halogenated alcohol and the stabilizing moiety is derived from a halogenated alcohol. The reactant composition further comprises a strained cyclic unsaturated monomer; an initiator; a mediator; and optionally, one or more of a co-monomer, a crosslinker, and a chain transfer agent.
