Abstract: The disclosure relates to a system, method and device for providing information relating to a received communication for a device. The method comprises: while the device is composing an outbound communication, monitoring for receipt of an inbound communication; upon receipt of the inbound communication, evaluating a subject field of the inbound communication against a subject field of the outbound communication to determine whether the inbound communication is related to the outbound communication; and if the inbound communication is related to the outbound communication, generating a first message on a display of the device providing a warning indicating that the inbound communication has been received and when a send command is activated on the device for the outbound communication generating a second message on the display providing a command for merging the inbound communication with text of the outbound communication.

Abstract: Approaches to displaying image search results, and image content of computer readable media include providing a matrix display of images, with an interface to insert and remove floating date dividers, each indicative of a day on which one or more of the images was created. Available images can be abstracted according to a respective month in which the images were created, up to a determined maximum number of months, after which images are abstracted according to a year in which they were created. Selecting a month causes display of a matrix of images created during that month, while selecting a year causes display of a list of months. A selected thumbnail can be displayed for each month or year of a displayed list. Search results can grouped according to how each result satisfied the search criteria, such as a separate group for images that had names matching a search criteria, and one or more separate groups for images that satisfied a date range criteria.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for determining playback behavior in a media application for a wireless communications device. The wireless communication device has a memory with media files stored therein. The method comprises the steps of: determining playback attributes associated with a media file; determining if a user triggered event occurs during the media file playback; determining if the media file playback ends due to the playback reaching the end of the media file; selecting a function to perform based on playback attributes of the file being played and based on whether the playback ends or the user triggered event occurs, wherein the selected function is based upon the determined attributes associated with the media file; and performing the selected function.

Abstract: A method is provided for use with a media application running on a wireless device. The method displays to a user a listing of media files available in a memory of the wireless device. The method comprises the steps of: determining locations in the memory to search for the available media files; the locations including all memory devices of the wireless device suitable for storing the media flies except for one or more predetermined folders contained in the memory, searching the determined locations for files to include in the listing of available media files; locating files not yet included in the listing of available media files; determining if the located files meet criteria of the search and identifying located files that meet the criteria of the search as suitable media files, and displaying a menu including the suitable media files.

Abstract: A method of displaying image media on a display of a wireless communications device entails displaying a hybrid view of the image media by presenting a list of folders containing image media and by concurrently presenting thumbnail images of the image media corresponding to at least one of the folders. The thumbnail images can be scaled-down images of digital pictures or scaled-down frames of digital video. Optionally, when the user selects one of the thumbnail images, the display presents the file name and file size.
