Patent number: 10047574Abstract: A centralizer, a device and a system. An example centralizer includes: a longitudinal axis, and first and second opposing end collars positioned around the axis of the centralizer; and a plurality of spring bows extending from the first end collar via a generally convex curved portion to the second end collar. A radial distance from an outwardly facing portion of the first end collar to the axis is: greater than a radial distance from a first outwardly facing portion of a spring bow of the plurality of spring bows, at a longitudinal axial position where the spring bow extends from the first end collar, to the axis; and less than a radial distance from a second outwardly facing portion of the spring bow, at a longitudinal axial position between the first end collar and the second end collar that is farthest from the axis, to the axis.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2015Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignee: Centek LimitedInventor: Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 9664001Abstract: Disclosed herein is a centralizer for being mounted around a centralizer sub body to form a centralizer sub. The centralizer comprises first and second opposing end collars arranged, in use, to be positioned around a longitudinal axis of the centralizer. The centralizer also comprises a plurality of spring bows extending from the first end collar to the second end collar. The first end collar may comprise first and second end regions arranged, in use, to face one another. The first and second opposing end regions may comprise first and second engaging elements respectively. The first end region may be configured to be connected, in use, to the second end region via the first and second engaging elements. Also disclosed is a centralizer sub and an engaging device for use in forming a centralizer.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2015Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: Centek LimitedInventor: Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 9182059Abstract: An adaptor assembly to be fitted onto a service pipe comprising a host pipe lined with a lining pipe is provided. The adaptor assembly includes a body to seal with the host pipe, a bore extending along a longitudinal axis of said body, and a compression element mountable on and displaceable relative to the body. The adaptor assembly includes an axially translatable piston, an annular flange protruding into said bore, and a grip ring disposable between said piston and said flange and having an inner radial surface to grip an outer radial surface of the lining pipe. A slip spacer is disposable between the compression element and the piston to transmit axial load but substantially prevent transmission of torque therebetween. The compression element is moveable to axially displace the piston causing the grip ring to bear against the inclined annular flange and grip radially inwardly against the outer radial surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2011Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignee: Radius Systems LimitedInventors: Derek Muckle, Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 8196670Abstract: A stop collar or like device is formed in one piece to have a portion for a tool to be attached. Movement of the tool allows the collar to be drawn tightly into engagement onto a pipe or other tubular member. A bow centraliser has alternate bows longitudinally offset to reduce initial insertion force. The centraliser may be formed to have end bands of the type used in the stop collar.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2010Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Domain Licences LimitedInventor: Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 6997254Abstract: A spring centralizer device for supporting a tubular member spaced from the wall of a bore is made from a single piece of boron steel material. The spring centralizer device has first and second collars spaced apart along a longitudinal axis. Spring bow portions extend between the collars. As the device is made from a single piece of material, the material extends seamlessly from each collar portion through the bow portions so that there are no joins or points of weakness. Use of boron steel means that the device can be made by cold forming.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2002Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Assignee: Domain Licences LimitedInventor: Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 5150642Abstract: A device for applying torque to e.g. a screw-threaded pipe includes a pair of gripping jaws pivotally mounted on a cage and carrying respective followers engaging cam surfaces on the radially inner surface of a rotary drive member. The jaws have friction linings. The case is connected to a clamp on the pipe so as to prevent rotation of the cage relative to the pipe. When a rotary drive is transmitted to the drive member, its cam surfaces operate the gripping jaws to clamp them about the pipe and increases the clamping pressure until the pipe begins to rotate with the drive member. The rotary drive member is mounted on a primary support which is held against rotation about the pipe and provides the required reaction force for the rotation.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1991Date of Patent: September 29, 1992Assignee: Frank's International Ltd.Inventors: Victor Moody, Andrew Jenner
