A signature icon is generated by using at least the received electronic signature data, wherein the signature icon comprises a coded visual representation of the electronic signature data. The signature icon is provided on a document signed by the signer by way of the electronic signature such that the signature icon is exhibited on the document at least when the document is printed or when the document is displayed on a display screen associated with a computing device or machine, wherein the signature icon facilitates authenticating the electronic signature of the signer.
