    Abstract: Subcutaneous insertion devices are described that include (a) a needle containing a shaft, a first end, and a second end; and (b) an insulator covering at least a portion of the shaft. The first end of the needle is exposed and is configured for subcutaneous insertion into a patient and an exterior surface of the insulator provides an outermost surface of the shaft. Methods of stimulating subcutaneous regions of a patient using such devices are also described.
