  • Patent number: 8210287
Abstract: A core drill bit includes an elongate hollow cylindrical body having opposite first and second ends with an end section having an end face defining an annular non-planar surface. The cutting head includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart cutting segments, the cutting segments being electrical welded to the non-planar surface whereby raised portions of the surface melt during the welding to affix the cutting segments with the face of the tool body.

  • Patent number: 5996571
Abstract: The present invention provides a hole saw or core drill bit for cutting annular holes in materials such as concrete, asphalt, masonry, rock, stone and related materials. The bit includes an elongated cylindrical body having a first end portion and a second end portion, a mounting platform at the first end of the body for attaching the bit to a driver and a cutting head at the second end of the body. The cutting head constitutes a plurality of cutting segments mounted on the annular face of the second end portion of the body. Each of the segments includes an outer portion, a middle portion and an inner portion. Each of the portions includes diamond particles dispersed throughout. The inner portions and the outer portions of the segments each have a greater concentration of diamond particles as compared to the middle portions. This dispersion of diamond particles provides a core drill bit with improved performance.

  • Patent number: 5193518
Abstract: A portable wire saw for cutting materials such as stone, concrete, asphalt and the like such as highway lane barriers. The portable wire saw includes a frame having a base on which is mounted a power source. Attached to the base is a plurality of wheels for easy portable movement of the wire saw. At least one of the wheels also provides a pivot point for the frame so that the wire saw can be pivoted between a cutting position and a non-cutting position. The power source drives a wire saw blade carried on a triangular support structure consisting of two pulleys and a drive wheel. The drive wheel is operably connected to the power source. The position of the pulleys is capable of being adjusted relative to the drive wheel. In a preferred embodiment the triangular support structure is arranged in a vertical orientation with the upper pulley functioning to keep the return path of the wire saw blade from having to pass through the material being cut.

  • Patent number: 5078035
Abstract: A circular saw blade having an inner drive portion, an outer cutting edge portion, and a plurality of angled slots extending through the blade from the first lateral surface through to the second lateral surface of the blade. The angled slots are radially spaced inboard of the outer cutting edge portion and they are closed and thus do not open to the outer diameter of the saw blade. The angled slots serve to produce an audible signal in the event the saw blade is rotated in the wrong direction of rotation upon a drive unit.

  • Patent number: 4840431
Abstract: A portable rotary power saw comprising a housing having mounted at its aft end a pair of rear wheels and a handlebar assembly. Mounted at the fore end of the housing a rotary cutting blade and a vertically adjustable axle having a pair of front wheels. Located between the rear and front wheels within the housing is a stationary axle mounted upon a pair of bearings which permit the axle to pivot. The saw includes a height adjustment mechanism comprising a segment, a latch, and a cable and lever assembly for operating the latch. One leg of the segment is supported by the stationary axle and connected to the adjustable axle by a pair of arms. The other leg of the segment includes a plurality of notches spaced along its length and it extends through the top of the housing. The latch is located on top of the housing immediately adjacent the notched leg and is capable of pivoting in and out of engagement with the notches.
