  • Publication number: 20190358041
Abstract: A joint prosthesis system is suitable for cementless fixation. The system includes a metal implant component that has a mounting surface for supporting an insert. The metal implant component includes a solid metal portion and a porous metal portion. The porous metal portion has surfaces with different characteristics, such as roughness, to improve bone fixation, ease removal of the implant component in a revision surgery, reduce soft tissue irritation, improve the strength of a sintered bond between the solid and porous metal portions, or reduce or eliminate the possibility of blood traveling through the porous metal portion into the joint space. A method of making the joint prosthesis is also disclosed. The invention may also be applied to discrete porous metal implant components, such as augment.

  • Patent number: 10464547
Abstract: A vehicle includes drive wheels, an energy source having an available energy, a torque-generating device powered by the energy source to provide an input torque, a transmission configured to receive the input torque and deliver an output torque to the set of drive wheels, and a controller. The controller, as part of a programmed method, predicts consumption of the available energy along a predetermined travel route using onboard data, offboard data, and a first logic block, and also corrects the predicted energy consumption using the onboard data, offboard data, and an error correction loop between a second logic block and the first logic block. The controller also executes a control action with respect to the vehicle using the corrected energy consumption, including changing a logic state of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20190323960
Abstract: An FI having an in-situ particle detector and a method for particle detection therein are provided. In one aspect, the FI includes a fan, a substrate support, a particle detector, and an exhaust outlet. The fan, substrate support, and particle detector are arranged such that, in operation, the fan directs air towards the exhaust outlet and over a substrate on the substrate support to create laminar flow. The particle detector, positioned downstream from the substrate support and upstream from the exhaust outlet, analyzes the air and detects particle concentration before the particles are exhausted. The collected particle detection data may be combined with data from other sensors in the FI and used to identify the source of particle contamination. The particle detector may also be incorporated into other system components, including but not limited to, a load-lock or buffer chamber to detect particle concentration therein.
