Patent number: 9258583Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for generating ratings for content items based on a user's consumption history. The content items may comprise various forms of media content, including, video, audio, Internet webpages, etc. When a user or consumption device accesses content items, a computing device may monitor the amount of the content items consumed by a user over one or more consumption sessions. In one embodiment, threshold values may be identified for one or more rating levels of a rating scale associated with the content items, and a rating for a content item may be generated based on the amount of the content item consumed by the user or the amount paid for the content item by the user. The computing device may calibrate or update generated ratings by measuring accuracy of the ratings and adjusting one or more threshold values associated with the content items.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2013Date of Patent: February 9, 2016Assignee: Comcast Cable Communications, LLCInventors: Andrew Leamon, Charles Durai, Ramya Narayanaswamy

Patent number: 7426481Abstract: A computer system provides product selections to a user according to a needs analysis. A database stores pre-generated product configurations and product configuration information. The product configuration information includes product features and product rules governing allowable combinations of the product features. Received product related data can include different types of information such as attribute information and product identifier information. The received product related data is processed to determine the type of received information. If the type is attribute information, the received product related data is filtered in accordance with the product configuration information and one or more product configurations that meet requirements of the received attribute information is identified. If the type is product identifier information, one or more of the pre-generated product configurations that corresponds to the received product related data is identified.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Versata Development Group, Inc.Inventors: Christopher M. Patent number: 7373361Abstract: Remote devices communicate with a central server in order to provide event tracking information pertaining to a business process, which is conducted by persons performing multiple roles. Software, including a state machine, is downloaded onto the device. A first state table is also downloaded and applied to the state machine in order to configure the device to operate in accordance with a first role. While the device is configured to operate in accordance with the first role, field data is captured and processed with the state machine in accordance with the first state table to generate event tracking information, which is transmitted to the server. Then, a second state table is applied to the state machine previously downloaded in order to reconfigure the device to operate in accordance with a second role. The device is reconfigured from the first role to the second role without changing the state machine on the device.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2005Date of Patent: May 13, 2008Assignee: AirClic, Inc.Inventors: Andrew Monroe, Andrew Leamon
