Patent number: 7458018Abstract: A system and method for obtaining and using namespace related information for presenting XML content. A namespace responsive application program determines one or more namespaces contained in an XML document and queries a namespace library to identify namespace related information, such as a solution related to the namespace. The identified namespace related information is retrieved and used for opening the XML document.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Brian Michael Jones, Marcin Sawicki, Robert Andrew Little, Daniel Robert Snyder

Patent number: 7392479Abstract: A system and method for providing namespace related information. A namespace library operating in a computer provides a central source of namespace related information for handling XML documents. The namespace related information may be used by other computer application programs operating in the computer. The namespace related information provided by the namespace library is indexed by namespace. Many types of namespace related information may be associated with each namespace. The computer application programs may obtain namespace related information by querying the namespace library using a particular namespace.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2002Date of Patent: June 24, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Brian Michael Jones, Marcin Sawicki, Robert Andrew Little, Paul Alexander Broman, Jeffrey C. Publication number: 20070278335Abstract: A fixed spool fishing reel having a winding shaft wheel which is rotatable about the winding shaft axis by operation of a handle on the winding shaft. The winding shaft wheel engages a rotor drive which rotates about a first axis which is generally transverse of the winding shaft axis and which drives a spool reciprocating worm shaft. The latter is rotatable about a second axis generally parallel to the said first axis, via reduction gearing. The reduction gearing rotates about a third axis generally parallel to the said first and second axes. The said first, second and third axes are all on the same side of the plane of the winding shaft wheel in such a way as to enable winding shaft attachment means to be provided on both sides of the winding shaft wheel, so that a winding handle may be attached selectively to either one or the other of the two sides of the reel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2007Publication date: December 6, 2007Inventors: Clifford Fox, Andrew Little, Chen Zhongkai

Patent number: 7233833Abstract: A method of modifying low frequency components of a digital audio signal having left and right channel signals, including the steps of: a) filtering the left and right channels signals using respective left and right high-pass filters to form left and right high-pass filtered signals; b) filtering the left and right channel signals using respective left and right band-pass filters to form left and right low frequency signals; c) modifying the amplitude of the left and right low frequency signals to give modified left and right low frequency signals whereby signals with amplitude a where 0<a<a1 are amplified by a first constant value C1, signals with amplitude a1?a<a2 are amplified proportional to 1/a, signals with amplitude a=2a are unchanged, signals with amplitude a2<a<a3 are attenuated proportional to 1/a, and signals with amplitude a=a3 are attenuated by a second constant value C2; and d) combining the modified band-pass filtered left and right signals with the respective left and right higType: GrantFiled: September 10, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Creative Technology LtdInventor: Max Andrew Little

Patent number: 6738479Abstract: A method of audio signal processing for a loudspeaker located close to an ear in use, the method consisting of or including:- creating one or more derived signals from an original monophonic input signal, the derived signals being representative of the original signal being scattered by one or more bodies remote from said ear (excluding room boundary reflection or reverberation), combining the derived signal or signals with said input signal to form a combined signal, and feeding the combined signal to said loudspeaker, thereby providing cues for enabling the listener to perceive the source of the sound of the original monophonic input signal to be located remote from said ear.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2000Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Creative Technology Ltd.Inventors: Alastair Sibbald, Max Andrew Little

Patent number: 5964885Abstract: Recovering text from a damaged electronic file by scanning an arbitrary stream of bytes and extracting text that is encoded as ASCII or Unicode. A byte of the damaged file is read. The read byte may be interpreted using the ASCII encoding standard. The read byte and the immediately preceding read byte may also be interpreted using the Unicode character encoding standard. The interpreted byte(s) is classified based upon the likelihood that the byte(s) is actually text for the particular character set rather than a control character, damaged data, or an element other than a textual character. The classifications are used to adjust a likelihood counter for each character type. The likelihood counter may be an integer value that indicates the probability that a text run has been detected. A text run is a sequence of bytes that is believed to be undamaged text. Each likelihood counter is then examined to determine whether there is a text run for one of the character types.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1997Date of Patent: October 12, 1999Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Robert Andrew Little, Stephan Brian Mueller
