  • Patent number: 11918023
Abstract: A bean roasting system includes a roasting chamber, a blower, a variable diverter and a controller. The roasting chamber, the blower and the variable diverter each is disposed at least partially within a recirculating gas flow path. The blower is configured to provide a flow stream of gas through the recirculating gas flow path. The variable diverter is configured to split the gas flow path into at least two flow paths including a treated flow path and a bypass flow path. The treated flow path includes a series arrangement of a gas heater and a catalytic converter. The variable diverter is configured to control a percentage of a flow stream of gas that is diverted into the bypass flow path. The controller is configured to activate different predetermined operating modes for the bean roasting system by controlling a state of the variable diverter and a state of the heater.

  • Patent number: 9995763
Abstract: A scanning probe microscope (SPM) system and associated method. The SPM system having a probe adapted to interact with nanoscale features of a sample and scan within a target region to produce a three-dimensional image of that target region, the system maintaining location information for a plurality of features of interest of the sample according to a sample-specific coordinate system, wherein the SPM system is configured to adjust positioning of the probe relative to the sample according to a SPM coordinate system, the SPM system further configured to manage a dynamic relationship between the sample-specific coordinate system and the SPM coordinate system by determining a set of alignment errors between the sample-specific coordinate system and the SPM coordinate system and apply corrections to the SPM coordinate system to offset the determined alignment errors.

  • Publication number: 20100064656
Abstract: Engines and methods for operating the engines are provided. The engine includes a means for limiting overspeed in flow communication with a turbine section flowpath, wherein the means for limiting overspeed is adapted to block a first portion of an airflow received along a first direction vector from flowing into an exhaust section flowpath and to redirect a second portion of the airflow received along the first direction vector or a portion of the blocked first portion of the airflow to flow along another direction vector that is closer to parallel with a longitudinal axis than the first direction vector.

  • Patent number: 6785691
Abstract: A global data sharing environment and data sharing proxy agent for multiple application instances in an object oriented processing system are disclosed. In response to an object in an application instance calling a data storage method, a local data sharing environment is generated that corresponds to the requesting object's application instance. As a data storage or retrieval method is processed, data is stored in or retrieved from the local data sharing environment. Data can also be shared between objects in separate application instances using the global data sharing environment.

  • Patent number: 5979037
Abstract: A mounting assembly and method for locating and assembling parts with a tight press fit uses an intentional design interference between two mating parts. Because of the interference fit, material is "crushed" or compressed when one mating part, such as a button frame, is forced upon the other mating part, such as a cabinet, and a tight fit is created. The interference fit is provided between first and second bosses and first and second mating holes, respectively, on opposite sides of each of the first and second bosses along a respective first axis, but not along a second axis that extends between the first and second bosses. Thus, a greater design tolerance is permitted in a direction between the first and second bosses and between the first and second mating holes, respectively. A third assembly part, such as a light guide, can be sandwiched between the first and second mating parts.

  • Patent number: 5884947
Abstract: A control panel door that is pivotally connected to the beznet of a television receiver. The beznet has a pair of radial protrusions which cooperate with a single radial protrusion of the door to secure the control panel door in a closed position. The door is provided with enough lateral movement to allow the single door protrusion to slide past the beznet protrusions when the door is rotated to an open position. The door protrusion and the beznet protrusions also align the control panel door with the beznet when the door is rotated into the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5739469
Abstract: A wire harness for a holding a plurality of wires in a cabinet having a front section and a rear section is disclosed, wherein the front section includes a first inner wall and the rear section includes a second inner wall. The harness includes a first vertical flange extending downward from the first inner wall, wherein the flange includes a slit extending through a first end of the flange and terminating before a second end of the flange to form upper and lower rib elements. Further, the slit forms an opening in the first end for receiving the wires into the slit. The harness further includes a shoulder element having a second vertical flange and a horizontal flange, wherein the second vertical flange extends downward from the second inner wall and is separated from the first vertical flange by an offset distance.
