Abstract: The present invention uses XHTML and XML to output a varied resolution PNG (Portable Network Graphics) representation of a document. The resulting image file is too large to be displayed on a standard computer monitor without forcing the user to scroll the document horizontally and/or vertically. The present invention manually rasterizes the image to an acceptable resolution for viewing on a standard computer monitor and allows the user to electronically sign the presented SMART Doc.

Abstract: A document creation application, compound document format, and method for providing user assistance in a compound document are described. The compound documents are formed using a markup language and include both non-volatile text and user selected and/or input data. The compound documents also include embedded user assistance triggers, or links, at specific terms, concepts or user input areas which dynamically link a user to appropriate user assistance information in the document creation application. The method describes embedding user assistance links in compound documents to allow users to dynamically link to topic specific user assistance information.

Abstract: A software-based method and system is described for building audit rule sets for auditing electronic documents. The method and system include an editor, schemas, a processing engine, and documents or a document creation engine. The system and method give users a visual interface for building audit rule sets to examine electronic documents for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
