  • Publication number: 20060238988
Abstract: A modular component coupling apparatus includes a chassis and a plurality of guide members mounted in the chassis which define a component channel, the plurality of guide members each including a first end and a second end, the second end including a component securing member adjacent the component channel. A modular component may be coupled to the chassis by engaging the component rear securing member such that vibrations in the modular component are reduced relative to a conventional coupling apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20060158842
Abstract: A chassis having a pivotable bracket is disclosed. The bracket pivots between an up position to permit an internal cable to be coupled to the bracket and pivots to a down position to form a hood for the passage of heated air into the interior of the computer system. When a component is inserted in the computer system, the component contacts the bracket and forces the bracket to move from the up position to the down position.

  • Patent number: 5999416
Abstract: A cover/shield assembly for an electronic component such as a computer system. The assembly includes a cover and relatively strong and rigid metal shield which shields against electromagnetic and radio frequency interference and which is attached to the inner surface of the cover, yet can easily be separated from the cover for recycling purposes. The shield is formed by a plate and a reinforcing beam connected to the plate. A series of hooks and tabs on the cover extend through slots in the shield and the shield is provided with tabs which engage ribs on the cover, all for the purpose of quick-detachably connecting the shield to the cover.

  • Patent number: 5995364
Abstract: A computer system includes a chassis and a hard disk drive mounting bracket rotatably attached to the chassis. A portion of the bracket includes a resilient surface formed therewith and extending into sliding engagement with the chassis. An alignment tab is attached to the bracket and extends therefrom into engagement with a groove in the chassis for guiding the bracket to a secured position. A securing tab is attached to the bracket and extends therefrom for engaging the chassis and securing the bracket in the secured position.

  • Patent number: 5788566
Abstract: A fan/finger guard assembly for a computer, or other types of electronic equipment in which a housing is provided for receiving a fan rotor and a motor and having at least one opening extending therethrough. The housing extends between, and in abutment with, a mounting plate attached to a wall of the enclosure and a finger guard for covering the fan rotor. At least one locking member extends from the mounting member and into the opening in the housing, and at least one locking member extends from the finger guard and into the opening in the housing and in engagement with the locking member of the of mounting plate. As a result, the assembly is locked to the wall of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5777848
Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting a component in electronic equipment, such as a computer system, which includes an enclosure and a mounting bracket pivotally mounted to the enclosure. One or more retaining members are disposed on the bracket for engaging the component to retain the component in the bracket in abutting relationship. The bracket, and therefore the component, are connected to the enclosure so that they can be pivoted between a position in which the component is mounted in the enclosure and a position in which it extends out of the enclosure. In the mounted position, the bracket forms a portion of one or more walls of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5734557
Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting a component in an enclosure for electronic equipment, such as a computer, and having at least one mounting plate. The mounting assembly includes a sled member extending around a portion of the component, and at least one aligmnent member engaging the component and attached to the sled member for locating the sled member relative to the component. A portion of the alignment member protrudes outwardly from the plane of the spring member, so that, when the component, and therefore the mounting assembly, are advanced towards the plate, the protruding portion is engaged by the mounting plate to secure the component in the enclosure and establish an electrical ground.

  • Patent number: 5688030
Abstract: An enclosure for electronic equipment, such as a computer, and one or more support members mechanically attached to the enclosure. The bottom plate of the enclosure defines a pair of spaced slots for receiving each support member. One end of each support member is adapted to engage the surface on which the equipment is to be supported, a pair of spaced posts project from the other end of each support member, and a head is provided on the end of each post. Each support member is mounted to the enclosure by inserting the heads in the ends of the respective slots and rotating the support member to move the heads and the posts of the support member to the other ends of their respective slots which locks the support member to the bottom plate without protruding into the interior of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5680293
Abstract: A screwless hard drive mounting in a computer system includes first and second interconnectable brackets. The first bracket is rigidly mounted on the computer chassis and provides a releasable engagement with the hard drive. The second bracket is movably mounted on the chassis and provides a releasable engagement with the hard drive and also provides a releasable engagement with the first bracket. A resilient member is mounted on the first bracket to releasably engage the hard drive and provide a preload between the hard drive and the first bracket. The resilient member further provides electrical grounding and vibration damping.
