Publication number: 20230109316Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques directed at under-display sensor lamination. In aspects, an electronic device having a mechanical frame designed with a bucket architecture includes an under-display sensor attached to one or more layers of a display panel stack. Such an implementation enables attachment of the under-display sensor to a protective layer, as opposed to attachment of the sensor directly to a display panel, minimizing the risk of delamination, as well as reducing damage to the display panel if delamination occurs and rework is attempted. Further, such an implementation removes the need for a mid-frame architecture, resulting in a thinner and lighter electronic device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2022Publication date: April 6, 2023Applicant: Google LLCInventors: Ji Hoon Jang, Jeffrey Andrew Fisher, Andrew McKinley Schroeder, Avi Pinchas Hecht

Patent number: 11272087Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are provided for manufacturing a flash module. In some implementations, the method includes mounting at least one LED module on a top portion of a first substrate for providing light. A lens portion is mounted on a second substrate in a first region of the second substrate. The lens portion illuminates the light from the at least one LED module and the second substrate comprises the first region having a first diameter and a second region for providing a path for the illuminating light having a second diameter. The first diameter is greater than the second diameter. The second substrate is mounted on the first substrate. A substance is applied to a top portion of the second substrate from an end of the first diameter to the end of the second diameter and to a side portion of the second substrate in the second region.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 8, 2022Assignee: Google LLCInventors: David Ian Rosen, Ying Zhou, Andrew McKinley Schroeder

Patent number: 10732727Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to handheld input devices having pressable user input mechanisms configured to move in a manner that adapts to different hands. One disclosed example provides a handheld input device comprising a body configured to be held by a hand such that one or more fingers of the hand are curved at least partially toward a palm of the hand, a pressable user input mechanism positioned on the body at such a location as to be in contact with a palm-side surface of a finger when the handheld input device is held, and a hinge coupling between the body and the pressable user input mechanism, the hinge coupling comprising an axis of rotation that varies based upon a characteristic of force applied to the pressable user input mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2017Date of Patent: August 4, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jonathan Shea Robinson, Aaron Schmitz, Gabriel Michael Rask Gassoway, Andrew McKinley Schroeder

Patent number: 10315107Abstract: A user input device is provided that includes a button-based control mechanism. The button-based control mechanism includes a button, the button including a user-depressible button top and a button stem, and a button depression guide disposed within an internal cavity of the user input device that engages with the button stem to cause the button to move from a default position and along a substantially arc-shaped path when pressure is applied to the button top. The substantially arc-shaped path may be around an axis of rotation that is external to the user input device. The button-based control mechanism further includes a button biasing mechanism disposed within the internal cavity that returns the button to the default position when the pressure is removed from the button top and at least one sensor that detects actuation of the button responsive to the movement of the button away from the default position.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2017Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Aaron Schmitz, Gabriel M.
