  • Patent number: 10891105
Abstract: Loading content on a screen in a structured manner in accordance with embodiments of the invention can provide a smoother user experience by simulating progress with visual cues. Depending on network bandwidth available to a control device, load times for displaying elements on the graphical user interface of a control device can vary from imperceptible (nearly instantaneous) to a perceived lag where a user may lose patience. Embodiments of the invention utilize gradual staging and progressive loading to reduce the perception of delay and create a more pleasing, less harsh experience for a user no matter longer or shorter load times.

  • Publication number: 20170264208
Abstract: An electrical assembly for a voltage source sub-module is provided, which comprises a first semiconductor device module which includes a plurality of first semiconductor devices. The electrical assembly also includes an energy storage device which in turn includes a plurality of energy storage sections that are configured to control the magnitude of a current portion flowing through each first semiconductor device. The energy storage sections are so configured by arranging each energy storage section in isolation from the or each other energy storage section to divide a current flowing through the energy storage device into a plurality of the said current portions and thereby cause each current portion to flow through a respective one of the plurality of energy storage sections. The energy storage sections are still further so configured by connecting each energy storage section to a respective one of the plurality of first semiconductor devices.

  • Publication number: 20140067374
Abstract: A method for phonetically searching media including a plurality of audio tracks is disclosed where each audio track is indexed to provide a phonetic representation of the audio track. The method comprises obtaining a text search query and searching for the text query against a set of reference documents to obtain a sub-set of pseudo-relevant documents. The pseudo-relevant documents are examined for a set of search expressions characterizing the pseudo-relevant documents. A phonetic representation corresponding to at least some of the set of search expressions is provided and for each of the phonetic representations of the search expressions, the indexed phonetic representations for one or more of the plurality of audio tracks is phonetically searched to provide any indicators of the incidence of the search expression within the one or more audio tracks.

  • Publication number: 20120288472
Abstract: A mechanism of macrophage-induced T cell suppression is the selective elimination of tryptophan and/or increase in one or more tryptophan metabolites within the local macrophage microenvironment Expression of IDO can serve as a marker of suppression of T cell activation, and may play a significant role in allogeneic pregnancy and other types of transplantation. Inhibitors of IDO can be used to activate T cells. Inhibiting tryptophan degradation, or supplementing tryptophan concentration, can be used in addition to, or in place of, inhibitors of IDO. Increasing tryptophan degradation (thereby, decreasing tryptophan concentration and increasing tryptophan metabolite concentration), for example, by increasing IDO concentration or IDO activity, can suppress T cells. One can manipulate local tryptophan concentrations, and/or modulate the activity of the high affinity tryptophan transporter, and/or administer tryptophan degrading enzymes.

  • Patent number: 8232313
Abstract: The present invention discloses pharmaceutical compositions containing 1-methyl-D-tryptophan and its utility to enhance rejection of tumor or virus-infected cells or to delay the progression of tumor growth. The present invention shows that pharmaceutical compositions containing 1-methyl-D-tryptophan enhance the efficacy of alternative antitumor or antiviral treatments such as chemotherapy, vaccination or cytokine therapy.

  • Patent number: 8198265
Abstract: A mechanism of macrophage-induced T cell suppression is the selective elimination of tryptophan and/or increase in one or more tryptophan metabolites within the local macrophage microenvironment. Studies demonstrate that expression of IDO can serve as a marker of suppression of T cell activation, and may play a significant role in allogeneic pregnancy and therefore other types of transplantation, and that inhibitors of IDO can be used to activate T cells and therefore enhance T cell activation when the T cells are suppressed by pregnancy, malignancy or a virus such as HIV. Inhibiting tryptophan degradation (and thereby increasing tryptophan concentration while decreasing tryptophan metabolite concentration), or supplementing tryptophan concentration, can therefore be used in addition to, or in place of, inhibitors of IDO.
