  • Patent number: 9153061
Abstract: Techniques for segmentation of three-dimensional (3D) point clouds are described herein. An example of a method for user-assisted segmentation of a 3D point cloud described herein includes obtaining a 3D point cloud of a scene containing a target object; receiving a seed input indicative of a location of the target object within the scene; and generating a segmented point cloud corresponding to the target object by pruning the 3D point cloud based on the seed input.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 14, 2012
Date of Patent: October 6, 2015
    Assignee: QUALCOMM Incorporated
Inventors: Sundeep Vaddadi, Andrew Moore Ziegler, Onur C. Hamsici
  • Patent number: 8897598
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure propose techniques for reconstructing a document mosaic using video streams of the document. The streams provide information identifying a layout that relates sequential frames of a video to each other. Once the streams are captured using a mobile device, it is then possible to reconstruct a virtual view of the entire document as though it were taken with a single camera shot. The reconstructed virtual view of the document will be suitable as input to an optical character recognition engine, which can be used for translating the document.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 2014
Date of Patent: November 25, 2014
    Assignee: Google Inc.
Inventors: Andrew Moore Ziegler, Leon G. Palm
