  • Patent number: 11934593
Abstract: A magneto-electrophoretic medium that can be globally and locally addressed and erased. The medium provides a writeable display with no perceivable lag and the ability to write and erase with only minimal power requirements. In particular, the magneto-electrophoretic medium can be erased by providing a subthreshold electric stimulus and supplementing a second non-electric stimulus that disturbs the written state and allows the magneto-electrophoretic particles to return to their original state.

  • Publication number: 20220316158
Abstract: A one-way recessed directional rumble strip system for controlling both direction and speed of traffic is described. The recessed directional rumble strip system includes a plurality of recessed directional rumble strips having a descending surface and a rumble face. Vehicles approaching the recessed directional rumble strip from a correct direction of travel are allowed to pass over the recessed directional rumble strip with little or no effect on the vehicle. Vehicles attempting to pass from the wrong direction will engage the features of the recessed directional rumble strip. This will affect an operating condition of the vehicle to change such as to cause a tactile and audible sensation to the driver. Indicia may be provided on the steep face to warn drivers that they are traveling in the wrong direction.

  • Patent number: 9869199
Abstract: A method for retrofitting a turbomachine is provided wherein a first trip cup of the turbomachine is replaced with a second trip cup and by replacing a mechanical flyweight governor with a mechanical-hydraulic governor. The second trip cup includes a plunger disposed in a hole defined by the second trip cup. The first trip cup is removed from the turbomachine and the second trip cup installed such that, when a speed of the turbomachine exceeds a predetermined value, the plunger actuates a trip paddle located adjacent the second trip cup. The mechanical flyweight governor is removed from the turbomachine and a first set of governor linkages coupling the mechanical flyweight governor to a steam source. The mechanical-hydraulic governor is installed in the turbomachine, the mechanical-hydraulic governor being coupled to a shaft of the turbomachine and being coupled to the steam source via a second set of governor linkages.

  • Publication number: 20170107848
Abstract: Methods for retrofitting a turbomachine are provided. A first trip cup of the turbomachine may be replaced with a second trip cup. The first trip cup may include a throw-out arm connected to a first trip cup spring. The second trip cup may include a plunger disposed in a hole defined by the second trip cup and a plunger spring encircling the plunger in the hole. The first trip cup may be removed from the turbomachine and the second trip cup installed such that a location of the plunger in the turbomachine is the same as a location of the throw-out arm in the turbomachine when the first trip cup was installed on the turbomachine. The tension in the plunger spring may be adjusted such that, when a speed of the turbomachine exceeds a predetermined value, the plunger actuates a trip paddle located adjacent the second trip cup.
