Abstract: A document feeder device is disclosed. The document feeder device includes a frame and at least one cantilevered roller shaft for advancing a document, where an unsupported end of the at least one cantilevered roller shaft floats. The document feeder device eliminates the need for a rigid frame to support the unsupported end. This decreases the cost of production by eliminating the need for additional frame hardware and/or more rigid frame hardware. The document feeder device can be implemented in existing designs.

Abstract: A document feeder method is disclosed. Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for the identification of a biological target of a chemical compound, such as saframycin A, known to bind a polynucleotide. The invention also provides methods of screening chemical compounds for those which act in a similar method and may be more potent than known compounds. The inventive methods are particularly useful in the high-throughput screening of chemical compounds that target GAPDH. The invention also provides kits useful in the practice of the inventive method. Compounds identified by inventive methods are also included in the invention.

Abstract: A printer using a paper supply roll is provided with a capability for conversion between snap-in loading of the paper roll, in which the roll is snapped into place with the tubular core of the paper roll being held to rotate between a pair of bearing members, and drop-in loading, in which the roll is dropped onto a support surface, against which the periphery of the roll then turns. In a first version, each of the bearing members has a flat side and a spherical side, which is turned inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading. In another version, the bearing members are moved inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for sorting purchase items. A selection module selects a plurality of categories. In one embodiment, the selection module receives a category selection. In addition, the selection module may receive a criterion selection for the category selection and receive a modification for the criterion selection. The selection module may further modify the criterion of the selected category with the modification. An identification module identifies a purchase item. An association module associates a selected category of the plurality of categories with the purchase item. A sorter sorts the purchase item to a specified bin. The specified bin is associated with the selected category. In one embodiment, a bagger may bag one or more purchase items from a bin.

Abstract: Under the present invention, a method, system, and program product for providing an untrusted certificate store for secure e-mail is provided. The method for providing the untrusted certificate store (UCS) includes obtaining particular information from either an e-mail message or directory that includes either, or both of, an untrusted certificate and an e-mail address and storing it/them in the UCS and then automatically maintaining the information in the UCS.

Abstract: A method, system, and program product stored on a computer-readable medium, for conveying reliable identity in electronic collaboration that includes evaluating information element(s) of an electronic interaction (e.g., message) so as to obtain a “confidence value” of the identity of the sender of the electronic interaction, based on the evaluation of the information element(s) and then mapping, on a spectrum, either in a visual, aural, haptic olfactory, or a combination of modes, the “confidence value” to the electronic interaction sender. May be employed in e-mail, VoIP, instant messaging, and the like.

Abstract: In recognition of the need to develop novel therapeutic agents and efficient methods for the synthesis thereof, the present invention provides novel compounds of general formula (I), and methods for the synthesis thereof. In another aspect, the present invention provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of formula (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. In yet another aspect, the present invention provides methods for treating cancer comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula (I) to a subject in need thereof.

Abstract: Surface-modified nanoparticles of boehmite, and methods for preparing the same. Aluminum oxyhydroxide nanoparticles are surface modified by reaction with selected amounts of organic acids. In particular, the nanoparticle surface is modified by reactions with two or more different carboxylic acids, at least one of which is an organic carboxylic acid. The product is a surface modified boehmite nanoparticle that has an inorganic aluminum oxyhydroxide core, or part aluminum oxyhydroxide core and a surface-bonded organic shell. Organic carboxylic acids of this invention contain at least one carboxylic acid group and one carbon-hydrogen bond. One embodiment of this invention provides boehmite nanoparticles that have been surface modified with two or more acids one of which additional carries at least one reactive functional group.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for transparent on-demand certificate provisioning for secure email. The method comprises: generating a keypair and a self-signed certificate; requesting a certificate from a certification authority; temporarily securing email using the self-signed certificate; and securing email using the requested certificate, after receipt of the requested certificate from the certification authority. The present inventions uses self-signed certificates as an initial, interim security mechanism, provides automatic submission of certificate requests and renewal requests, provides an administrative policy to specify when keypairs and self-signed certificates are generated by a user's client system, and when certificate requests are submitted, and provides automatic transition from end-user defined trust to delegated trust based upon CA-issued certificates.

Abstract: The present invention is a generic public key infrastructure (PKI) framework. A generic PKI framework can include a PKI adapter coupled to a plurality of different PKI certificate authorities (CAs). The PKI adapter can include program code enabled to select a particular one of the different PKI CAs based upon provided request criteria. Also, the generic PKI framework can include a PKI connector coupled to the PKI adapter. The PKI connector can include program code enabled to process requests for certification from PKI clients for respective applications by providing request information from the requests to the PKI adapter.

Abstract: The tetracycline class of antibiotics has played a major role in the treatment of infectious diseases for the past 50 years. However, the increased use of the tetracyclines in human and veterinary medicine has led to resistance among many organisms previously susceptible to tetracycline antibiotics. The modular synthesis of tetracyclines and tetracycline analogs described provides an efficient and enantioselective route to a variety of tetracycline analogs and polycyclines previously inaccessible via earlier tetracycline syntheses and semi-synthetic methods. These analogs may be used as anti-microbial agents or anti-proliferative agents in the treatment of diseases of humans or other animals.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for the transparent security for electronic mail (e-mail) messages. A method for transparently securing an e-mail message can include producing a secured form of an e-mail message and identifying at least one designated recipient of the e-mail message for whom a secured form of the e-mail message cannot be produced and understood. Consequently, the secured form can be selectively transmitted to designated recipients able to process the secured form, while an unsecured form of the e-mail message can be transmitted to those identified recipients unable to process the secured form without first requiring confirmation from a sender of the e-mail message to transmit the unsecured form instead of the secured form.

Abstract: A duplex check printer includes an upper document path, a print head at one side of the upper document path, and a lower document path having a loop to invert a check so that information can be printed on both sides of the check. The check is driven within the upper document path by feed rolls, which are reversed when the check is driven from the upper document path to the lower document path. The check is driven within the lower document path by belts, which are in turn driven by a separate motor.

Abstract: A printer system is disclosed. The printer system includes a frame, at least one feed roll shaft coupled to the frame for feeding a document through the printer system, and a reference plate rotatably attached to the at least one feed roll shaft. The reference plate includes a first surface for facilitating scanning functions and a second surface for facilitating printing functions. According to the system and method disclosed herein, printing and scanning mechanisms are optimally integrated in a compact space by utilizing a multi-purpose reference plate.

Abstract: The invention is a dietary supplement for animals, especially dogs, for treating arthritis and joint discomfort. A biscuit form of the supplement may be in the form of a conventional carrier composition of, for example, typical dog biscuit materials including cereal grains, vegetables or animal meat, fat and by-products. Typically, the biscuit contains about 89-97 weight percent (wt. %) of the conventional carrier composition. Optional vitamins and minerals may also be added to the carrier material, typically in about the 1-5 wt. % range. Importantly, the biscuit of the present invention contains about 3-7 wt. % of an arthritis-treating combination, namely, glucosamine sulfate, vitamin C and an array of intracellular ions namely potassium, sodium and iodine. The glucosamine component is present by weight at approximately the same level as the vitamin C, and at approximately 10 (ten) times the level of the sum of the above-named intracellular ions.

Abstract: An integrated data controller that utilizes a first-in first-out (FIFO) management system that compensates for the unpredictable nature of latency associated with requesting data from memory and enables the timing of data requests to be determined based on the number of pending requests and the amount of data currently residing in the buffer. The FIFO management system includes a FIFO controller and a FIFO buffer that monitor a credit value and a trigger value to determine when to make data request bursts upon a memory unit. The trigger value is an indication of whether there is a sufficient amount of free space for it to be beneficial to make a data request burst and the credit value is a number that indicates the number of a data blocks that should be requested in the data request burst.
