  • Publication number: 20240026991
Abstract: A lockout device can be used to secure a valve, a valve stem, or other control. The lockout device includes a cover having an internal cavity and an opening about the internal cavity, a cable that is flexible, a cable attachment point attached to the cover to which the cable is attached at its securable end, and a cable lockout module attached to the cover. The cable lockout module includes a cable engagement element having a cable-receiving pathway extending therethrough for reception of a free end of the cable and selective securement thereof to create a cable loop. The cable lockout module further has a door. When the door is in a closed position, the cable engagement element is securely covered by the door and the door is lockable relative to a remainder of the cable lockout module to prevent the door from being opened.

  • Publication number: 20240003167
Abstract: A multicable lockout device comprises a housing including at least two cable end securement points, a stationary cleat fixed relative to the housing, and at least two rotatable cleats attached to the housing. Each of the rotatable cleats is positioned adjacent to the stationary cleat with a respective cable-receiving pathway being defined between the shared stationary cleat and each of the respective rotatable cleats. The respective rotatable cleats each have a tip biased towards the shared stationary cleat to facilitate one-way gripping action of a cable along the respective cable-receiving pathway. This structure permits two cable loops to be independently formed utilizing only three cleats for gripping the cables.

  • Publication number: 20230304601
Abstract: A handle lockout device can be placed around a handle of a valve to prevent operation of the handle by rotation of the handle about a stem. The handle lockout device includes a housing and one or more adjustable slides. The housing has an internal cavity, in which the housing is bifurcated into two halves at a parting line with a stem opening positioned on the housing along the parting line. The two halves are movable relative to one another between an opened position in which the two halves are separated at the parting line to provide access to the internal cavity and a closed position in which the two halves are bought together at the parting line. The adjustable slide(s) are positioned adjacent to the stem opening, are slidable relative to the housing, and have an edge that can alter a size of the stem opening of the housing.

  • Patent number: 11493147
Abstract: A valve handle lockout device is configured to temporarily lock out a pull handle butterfly valve. The device includes an enclosure body, at least one lock hole, and a blocking wall. The enclosure body includes first and second enclosure portions having an opening at a proximal end of the enclosure body that is dimensioned to surround a base of the pull handle butterfly valve. The lock hole is configured to receive a locking member and thereby secure the device in a closed position on a handle of the pull handle butterfly valve. The blocking wall borders or is near to the opening and is configured to engage the pull handle butterfly valve when the enclosure body is secured in a locked position, thereby preventing removal of the device from the handle and the handle from being operated.

  • Publication number: 20220316240
Abstract: A cable lockout device includes a housing receiving a cable in which the cable forms a loop external to the housing. The housing has a passageway extending therethrough through which the cable extends and has a cable gripping location positioned along the passageway. The cable lockout device further includes a locking arm rotationally coupled to the housing that actuates a cleat or cam spaced from the axis of the locking arm, which cleat or cam can be brought towards another cleat or cam in the cable gripping location (upon closure) or away from the other cleat or cam (upon opening). In a closed position of the locking arm, the locking arm is lockable relative to the body to prevent movement of the locking arm back to the opened position without first unlocking the locking arm relative to the body.

  • Publication number: 20220102900
Abstract: A battery connector lockout device is configured to lockout a battery connector including a connector head connected to a wire. The device includes an enclosure body having a first base wall and a second base wall opposite one another that are selectively movable in relative to one another between an open and closed positions. A cavity is defined by the enclosure body and dimensioned to receive the connector head and a wire access opening extends through the enclosure body into the cavity. A peg projects into the cavity from the enclosure body. A locking mechanism is configured to be selectively locked to hold the first base wall and the second base wall in the closed position thereby retaining the connector head in the cavity (that is, locking out the battery connector in the lockout device so that the connector head cannot be used).

  • Patent number: 11086352
Abstract: A lockout device includes a plurality of rigid panels and a flexible body extending along an insertion axis which has, on one axial end thereof, a selectively closeable opening. The rigid panels are affixed to sidewalls of the flexible body with the rigid panels being positioned about the insertion axis. When the selectively closeable opening is opened, the flexible body and the plurality of rigid panels collectively define an interior volume for reception of a pendant control or other terminally-positioned electrical structure on a cord through the selectively closeable opening. When the selectively closeable opening is closed around the cord from which the pendant control or other terminally-positioned electrical structure extends, the pendant is secured in the interior volume and use of the pendant is inhibited by the plurality of rigid panels of the lockout device.
