  • Publication number: 20240139207
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for treating pulmonary hypertension by administering to a subject suffering from pulmonary hypertension a therapeutically effective amount of a non-oral therapeutic agent for treating pulmonary hypertension followed by an orally administered form of a therapeutic agent for treating pulmonary hypertension, wherein the amount of non-oral therapeutic agent is sufficient to allow for an increased amount of the orally administered therapeutic agent to thereafter be administered compared to a subject who is not previously treated with the non-oral therapeutic agent.

  • Patent number: 8899927
Abstract: A device is described herein that harnesses wind energy by employing large rectangular airfoils mounted on a rotating frame. As the frame rotates, sliders cause the airfoils to expand and contract in a cyclical pattern. The aerodynamic drag of the airfoils is maximized during the power stroke and minimized during the recoil stroke. When subjected to wind, the wind causes more pressure on the expanded airfoils than the contracted ones, which drives rotation of the entire frame. The design is highly scalable, limited only by stiffness and strength limitations of the materials used in its construction. It may be possible to achieve efficiency of power generation that greatly surpasses that of traditional propeller style windmills.

  • Patent number: 4828109
Abstract: The package of the present invention comprises a sheath formed from a folded, relatively rigid strip having structure for receiving and releasably holding the ends of the fiber to be packaged. In a preferred embodiment, the fiber is between the two folded over parts of the strip with the ends of the fiber anchored in place in a pair of slits. The sheath is in a pouch formed by a pair of foil members on opposite sides of the sheath. When ready for use, the package is opened by peeling the foil members apart, thereby exposing the sheath and permitting access to the fiber carried by the sheath. An improved apparatus and method are provided to form the package. In the first instance, the sheath is prepared by first folding a strip of relatively rigid material, such as siliconized polyester, the moving the folded strip along a path of travel and feeding the fiber into the region between the parts of the strip as the strip moves.
