  • Patent number: 9783958
Abstract: A rope shovel has a boom and a hoist rope. The boom has a first end and a second end. The hoist rope extends over the second end of the boom. A digging assembly for the rope shovel includes a shaft, an elongated member supported for movement relative to the boom, an attachment, and a drive link. The shaft is positioned between the first end and the second end of the boom and transverse to the boom, and the shaft includes at least one pinion gear. The elongated member includes a first end and a second end. The attachment is coupled to the first end of the elongated member and is configured to be coupled to the hoist rope. The drive link includes a rack engaging the pinion gear of the transverse shaft such that rotation of the pinion gear moves the drive link and actuates the attachment.

  • Patent number: 5636460
Abstract: A dragline comprising a main housing, a bucket hoist mechanism mounted on the housing, a bucket drag mechanism mounted on the main housing, a moving mechanism for moving the main housing over the ground, a boom which is supported on the main housing and which has an upper end, a bucket, a hoist rope having one end connected to the bucket hoist mechanism, extending over the sheave, and having an opposite end, a drag rope extending between the bucket and the bucket drag mechanism, a dump block including a frame having a main portion connected to the opposite end of the hoist rope, and a cantilevered spindle extending from the main portion, and a dump block sheave mounted on the spindle for rotation about a sheave axis, and a dump rope extending over the dump block sheave and having one end connected to the drag rope and an opposite end connected to the bucket, such that the dump rope can be removed from the sheave in the direction away from the frame main portion.

  • Patent number: 5410826
Abstract: A digging tooth assembly has first and second wedged members retaining a digging tooth tip on a tooth base. The improvement comprises a tension member, e.g., a bolt, coupled to the first member and engaging the second member. The bolt has an adjustable effective length so that the first member can be drawn into wedged engagement with the second member. Other aspects of the invention involve a method for assembling a digging tooth assembly having an apertured tooth tip on an apertured, supporting tooth base. The method includes the steps of inserting a first wedge-like member into the aperture, inserting a second wedge-like member into the aperture and drawing the first member upward into wedged engagement with the second member.

  • Patent number: 5398433
Abstract: A bucket dump block, used on dragline buckets, has side frames and a rotatable rope-guiding sheave. In the improvement, each side frame has a separate ring-like support section extending toward the other side frame and abutting the support section of such other side frame. The sheave is supported by and rotates about such support sections. The sheave rides on an annular anti-friction member retained on a sleeve into which the support sections are press-fitted. The dump block (which is devoid of provisions for lubrication) has a minimum number of parts and is easy to manufacture and repair.
