  • Patent number: 11915207
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a plurality of display configurations couple to housing portions of different dimensions with opposing couplers and a common keystone element that, when installed, prevents separation of the opposing couplers. Removal of the keystone element provides ready access to the housing portion interior to recycle processing components, such as a main board having a processor and memory.

  • Patent number: 11907042
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. A single cable between the housing portions provides power and data communications for the components. A battery in a first housing portion interfaces with a secondary board having a charger and embedded controller that cooperate to provide power at a native battery voltage to a main board of a second housing portion through the cable. A switched-capacitor voltage regulator coupled to the main board reduces the power to a system voltage with a selectable divider ratio that is set based upon the measured battery voltage applied at the main board.

  • Publication number: 20230208210
Abstract: Systems and methods for aligning an electronic device to a wireless charging pad disposed under a work surface are described. In some embodiments, a system may include a printed circuit board (PCB) and a light indicator coupled to the PCB, where the light indicator is configured to connect to a wireless charging pad disposed under a work surface, and where light emitted by the light indicator is visible to a user from above the work surface.

  • Publication number: 20230188854
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a cylindrical housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera orientation at a display panel front face is detected, such as with an accelerometer or with analysis of a visual image captured by the camera module, so that the camera orientation is presented with an orientation indicator at the camera front face, such as an LED that illuminates with a predetermined color to indicate an upright vertical orientation. In one alternative embodiment, a gimble interfaced with the camera module and cylindrical housing actuates to adjust the camera module to the upright vertical orientation.

  • Publication number: 20230185291
Abstract: End users subscribe to use information handling systems having a selected of available performance characteristics defined by plural components selected to build the information handling systems. A manufacturer meets subscriptions with information handling systems built from an inventory of new components, deployed components of information handling system is use by subscribers, and separated components taken from returned information handling systems and re-used. End user subscriptions are met in part by building information handling systems with separated components having a useful life remaining that aligns with end user usage patterns tracked over time.

  • Publication number: 20230185331
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a plurality of main board configurations provide selectable performance characteristics assembled behind a display in one housing portion and powered by a battery and charger in the other housing portion. A secondary board that supports the charger provides a variety of customizable secondary functions, such as audio processing supported by integrated speakers, a keyboard interfaced with an embedded controller and held by a housing cover.

  • Publication number: 20230188673
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. A touch sensor disposed at the camera housing, such as at the front face surface encircling the camera module, detects a single finger touch to command a change between communication of video stream images and a static stored image from the camera. Communication of a static image by the camera maintains a wireless local area network interface for the camera so that a rapid change back to video stream images may be accomplished without restarting the wireless communication interface.

  • Publication number: 20230188672
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. The camera has a housing of a light guide material, such as an extruded acrylic, that guides light from the display panel to the front of the camera. A camera dock having a charging light indicator illuminates from the rear of the camera through the light guide material to the front of the camera to present a charging state of the camera in the dock.

  • Publication number: 20230188680
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera position at a display panel front face is detected, such as with a touchscreen of the display panel or an infrared curtain presented from the camera dock along the display panel front face. Presentation of content at the display is adjusted based upon the camera position, such as to enhance a video conference by placing a window with an active speaker proximate the camera so that an end user of camera appears to be looking the speaker in the eye.

  • Publication number: 20230188815
Abstract: A camera integrates a magnet at one end of a housing to magnetically attract and attach the camera to a front side of a peripheral display, such as to support a video conference through an information handling system interfaced with the display. Camera position at a display dock is biased to an upright orientation by opposing polarity magnets included in the camera and the dock. The opposing polarity magnets further align a wireless charger of the dock with a wireless charger receiver of the camera to provide wireless charging of the camera from the dock.

  • Patent number: 11331567
Abstract: A game controller integrates a trigger at a side of a planar controller housing, the trigger rotating within the plane of the controller housing about an axle disposed perpendicular to the plane. The trigger rotationally couples to the axle at a trigger bracket that fixedly coupled to a frame. A guide integrated in the frame engages a member extending from the trigger to manage trigger motion. A cover couples to the frame and separate from the trigger to enhance housing robustness.

  • Patent number: 11260288
Abstract: A game controller has first and second controller housings having an attachment guide structure that detachably couples to an attachment tab structure disposed on opposing sides of an information handling system and a bridge. Input devices of the controller housing communicate directly with the information handling system through opposing pins and pads disposed in the attachment features or indirectly by communicating with the bridge through opposing pins and pads so the bridge communicates with the information handling system. The attachment guide structure has opposing lips with plural slots that pass tabs of the attachment tab structure through so that a sliding motion engages the tabs behind the lips.

  • Patent number: 11260291
Abstract: A game controller has first and second controller housings that detachably couple to an information handling system and a bridge to communicate inputs by plural input devices directly with the information handling system or indirectly by communicating with the bridge so the bridge communicates with the information handling system. The information handling system operates in a handheld mode with game controller input devices, such as joysticks and triggers, coupled for use at opposing sides of the information handling system housing, or in a standalone mode with the game controllers detached from the information handling system and attached to a bridge so that the bridge communicates the controller inputs to the information handling system. Attachment of a game controller to a bridge or information handling system is aided with opposing polarity magnets at proper alignment.
