Patent number: 11970966Abstract: A split cycle internal combustion engine comprises a combustion cylinder and a compression cylinder arranged to receive air and compress the air to provide a compressed working fluid to the combustion cylinder for combustion. The compression cylinder is coupled to a water reservoir. The engine further comprises a controller arranged to receive an indication of at least one parameter associated with the engine and/or a fluid associated therewith, and control delivery of the mass of water delivered to the compression cylinder based on the indication of the at least one parameter such that the total mass of water in the compressed working fluid at the end of the compression stroke results in a level of water concentration in the compressed working fluid that is less than a threshold water concentration level.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2021Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Dolphin N2 LtdInventors: Nick Owen, Rhys Pickett, Rob Morgan, Andrew Atkins

Patent number: 7446436Abstract: A number of wave correction filters are disclosed which respond to power surges or spikes outside the intended frequency and/or voltage for a load device. The circuits respond to such undesired frequencies and voltage levels by sensing and separating them from the desired voltage and frequencies and connecting the energy from such undesired voltages and/or frequencies to resistors where it is dissipated as heat. In this way, the resulting energy is prevented from distorting the input voltage to the load device. It is also retained in the filter and prevented from traveling through a ground connection to pollute other related circuits.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2006Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Environmental Potentials, Inc.Inventors: Andrew Pickett, Theodore Thibault, Edward G. Price

Publication number: 20060263352Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the quantity of pre-synaptic neuromuscular blocking substance (notably botulinum toxin) contained in a sample. In one aspects, the method comprises the following steps: (i) determining the minimum voltage Vm needed to induce the contraction of muscle tissue, said muscle tissue being connected to an electrical stimulator through a motor nerve and preferably immersed in an oxygenated physiological buffer containing glucose; (ii) adding the sample containing the pre-synaptic neuromuscular blocking substance; (iii) electrically stimulating, at a voltage at least equal to Vm, the muscle tissue at certain time intervals; (iv) comparing the effect induced by the sample to the effect induced by a reference substance and thereby determining the quantity of the pre-synaptic neuromuscular blocking substance in the sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2004Publication date: November 23, 2006Applicant: Ipsen LimitedInventors: Andrew Pickett, Robin Quirk, Richard France, Lisa Riccalton-Banks

Patent number: 6486570Abstract: A waveform correction filter is connected into an alternating current power line to absorb and remove various forms of power pollution, including high-frequency spikes, surges and other forms of high-frequency oscillations, such as those which result from switching inductive loads on and off. The waveform correction filter of the invention includes a fuse and a coaxial amorphous toroidal inductor connected between a power line and neutral with a low-pass filter connected in series with the fuse and coaxial amorphous toroidal inductor. The filter includes a capacitor, a varistor connected in parallel with said capacitor, and a magnetic core inductor connected in series with each other and in parallel with the capacitor and said varistor. A lamp may be connected in series with the resistor and the magnetic core inductor or across the resistor. Various arrangements are shown for connecting a plurality of the waveform correction filters into single phase or three-phase Wine or delta circuits.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2000Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: Environmental Potentials, Inc.Inventors: Edward G.
