    Abstract: Infrared-transparent polymers, useful for LWIR and/or MWIR transparency, are disclosed. The disclosed infrared-transparent polymers are low-cost, damage-resistant, and economically scalable to commercially relevant substrate areas (1 ft2 and greater). In some disclosed infrared-transparent polymers, the carbon-free polymer backbone contains a plurality of polymer repeat units of the form wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyls, hydroxyl, amino, urea, thiol, thioether, amino alkyls, carboxylates, metals, metal-containing groups, and deuterated forms or combinations thereof; wherein R2 is (independently from R1) selected from the group consisting of alkyls, hydroxyl, amino, urea, thiol, thioether, amino alkyls, carboxylates, metals, metal-containing groups, and deuterated forms or combinations thereof; wherein n is selected from 2 to about 10,000; and wherein the carbon-free polymer backbone is linear, cyclic, branched, or a combination thereof.

    Abstract: Bioprinting is the layer-by-layer construction of synthetic tissues or scaffolds. Described herein is a motorized extruder which can precisely extrude and retract extrudate such as bioinks in a compact and rapidly-loadable form-factor. This includes a compact bioprinter using a stepper motor coupled with a threaded shaft to directly move the plunger of an extruder. This pneumatic-mechanical system obviates the needs for pneumatic tubing, rods, or other complex elements of existing designs. The direct drive design further allows for a lighter, smaller gantry that is capable of more precise fabrication of bioprinted constructions. This includes delicate vasculature systems that are beyond limits of existing bioprinting technologies.

In some embodiments, an input stored in such a dedicated file system for the recruiter machine at the volunteer machine may be locally retrieved and reused, if still consistent with a corresponding input stored in a file system at the recruiter machine, when performing a data processing task for the recruiter machine at the volunteer machine. In some embodiments, if an input required by the volunteer machine to perform a data processing task for the recruiter machine is not cached in such a dedicated file system for the recruiter machine at the volunteer machine in a state that is consistent with a corresponding input stored in a file system at the recruiter machine, the input is obtained from the recruiter machine.
