  • Patent number: 11878400
Abstract: A fastener driver includes a housing defining a head portion and a handle portion, a drive mechanism positioned within the housing, and a firing mechanism. The firing mechanism includes a primary guide member supported within the head portion of the housing, a secondary guide member spaced from the primary guide member and supported within the head portion of the housing, a piston slidable along the primary guide member and the secondary guide member, a driver blade attached to the piston and configured to be movable along a drive axis, and a biasing member configured to move the piston and the driver blade from a top dead center (TDC) position toward a bottom dead center (BDC) position. A lifter assembly is operated by the drive mechanism to return the piston and the driver blade towards the TDC position, against the bias of the biasing member.

  • Publication number: 20240009820
Abstract: A powered fastener driver having a motor, a biasing member configured to store a force for driving a fastener, a lifter configured to release the force, a piston configured to be urged by the force towards a bottom-dead-center position to drive the fastener into a workpiece, and a magnet coupled to the lifter for rotation therewith. The magnet is formed as a single piece including a first pair of poles having a first north pole face and a first south pole face, and a second pair of poles including a second north pole face and a second south pole face. The first north pole face is adjacent the second south pole face, and a pole junction is defined between the first and second pairs of poles. A sensor is configured to detect the pole junction. A controller is configured to control the motor based on detection of the pole junction.

  • Publication number: 20230264316
Abstract: A belt sander for sanding a workpiece including a main housing, a motor having a motor shaft disposed within the main housing, and a handle extending from the motor housing and configured to be grasped by a user for maneuvering the belt sander. The motor shaft defines a motor axis that is perpendicular to a handle axis of the handle. The belt sander further includes a contact arm that extends from the motor housing and is moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position, and a light assembly coupled to the motor housing. The light assembly includes a light housing, an LED, and a lens coupled to the light housing for diverging light rays from the LED across a light range. When the contact arm is in the deployed position, the light range illuminates at least a portion of the contact arm and a space below the contact arm.
